Every Pleo is unique. Each one begins life as a newly-hatched baby Camarasaurus, but he’ll soon develop his own personality, moods, and habits - all shaped by the time he spends with you.
Your adorable green, blue-eyed prehistoric pet is just like a human toddler and he’ll want to explore his surroundings. Touch and hold the upper part of Pleo's front legs for 3 seconds and he'll shuffle off to explore. Ambling around, his highly articulated body will make its way towards the sights, sounds, shapes, and textures of your home.
You may not be able to speak dinosaur, but you’ll have hours of fun working out what this young nipper wants and needs. With a playful honk or a pesky tug, Pleo lets you know that he craves attention or food. If he seems sleepy get him to take a nap by holding his back for 10 seconds with a gentle 'calm down' touch.
And he’ll want to know you care. He loves a cuddle, stroke him from head to tail and he'll blissfully arch his back, but be careful; if you quickly tap his paws you might find he's ticklish! Call out to him (he loves to hear your voice) or shine a light, and see how he responds. Just like us, Pleo experiences the world through his senses.
Like us, his mood can change regularly. He can be happy and curious or sad and vexed – especially if you keep tugging his tail! Let's not forget that this Camarasaurus is just a baby. If something in Pleo's new environment scares him - see how he cowers? But the more he experiences, the more confident he becomes. When he’s playful and lively, he’ll love a good tug-of-war with you using the supplied leaf. If you look after Pleo, he'll look after you too. He's a trusty watch dog, or should that be watch-dino? He'll look out for potential intruders and will alert you with a growl.
Because of his inquisitive nature and the fact he requires regular attention and care, our resident Dinokeeper advises that Pleo is not considered suitable or intended for children under 8 years of age.
