We now offer delivery of products from our website to international destinations. The countries currently served are in the list below.

We'll also be gradually adding products available to export, so the choice will be increasing all the time and it's worth checking the site regularly. Please be aware though, that not everything we sell is eligible for international delivery - find out why.

If you'd like to have items sent to separate addresses, please complete a separate order for each address. A separate delivery charge will be made for each address.

In some but not all instances, the recipient will need to sign for an international delivery; this depends on the local carrier and value of the order. We'd advise you assume that someone needs to be in to receive the parcel.

Please note that the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland count as UK, not International delivery .

Products excluded from international delivery

Not everything we sell online is eligible for international delivery, for reasons connected with logistics, legalities and warranties. Here’s a list of exclusions:

  • All electrical items (including those with batteries)
  • Lighting (except lampshades)
  • Furniture (including outdoor)
  • Blinds, curtain poles and tracks
  • Fabric by length, fabric samples, wallpaper
  • Rugs
  • Mirrors
  • Heavy or bulky items which need to be carried by more than one person, e.g fitness equipment
  • Nursery travel, e.g car seats and pushchairs
  • Crackers and candles
  • Liquids and aerosols
  • Beauty products
  • Knives/scissors
  • Paints, glues and products containing these items (e.g toys)
  • Food/alcohol/perishables/flowers & plants

However, our specialist export service based at John Lewis Oxford Street may well be able to help you with these products, especially furniture and electricals, as it uses different shipping methods, so do please contact them. Find out more.

John Lewis Delivery Limited

When you order products on our website, all of these products will be sold to you by us, John Lewis plc. We can also deliver the products to you at addresses in the UK and Channel Islands.

For international deliveries outside the UK and Channel Islands, the delivery service will be provided to you by John Lewis Delivery Limited (JL Delivery Ltd), which uses the carrier, DPD. JL Delivery Ltd is our sister company within the John Lewis group, and specialises in providing delivery of goods to international addresses. It can offer you international delivery of goods sold on our website (subject to certain exclusions – see below). All you need to do is select “International delivery provided by JL Delivery Ltd” as your delivery option, and specify your international delivery address.

Duty payments

Products delivered to some destinations, mainly outside the EU, may be subject to taxes, fees, levies or other charges, which are imposed by local legislation. The recipient of the products is responsible for all customs formalities for their export and import, and will be required to pay any additional charges, including import duty, formal customs entry, taxes, levies and other charges. The recipient of the goods, not the person who's ordered them, will receive a separate request for payment of these charges.

If you're ordering products to be delivered to someone else, please make sure they're aware they'll be responsible for these additional charges. Unfortunately we have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be, so we’re unable to offer any assistance on these processes. We'd advise that you check the import charges applicable in any country before ordering products to be delivered there.

Payment and VAT

Payment for products and delivery services is to be made in pounds Sterling. All prices shown on the website for both products and delivery services are inclusive of any applicable UK VAT. This means that the total price you pay us for products, or JL Delivery Ltd for the delivery, is always the same, regardless of whether or not UK VAT is chargeable on the sale. Find out about payment options.

Where you've requested delivery to a EU address, the price paid for the product and the delivery service will usually include UK VAT, which will be shown on your VAT receipts issued to you by both johnlewis.com and JL Delivery Ltd. To obtain a VAT receipt , sign into Your Orders and then click on the View your order/obtain VAT receipt link.

Where you're not a UK resident and you've ordered products for delivery by JL Delivery Ltd to a non-EU address, both the products and the delivery service will normally be zero-rated, with no UK VAT chargeable on either. However, the price paid by you for the products and delivery services will remain the same as shown on the website.

Because of this, our website may not be the best way for you to buy products if you're either a non-UK resident and wish to claim back VAT on orders for delivery outside the EU, or you're an EU business customer expecting to buy goods and delivery services without UK VAT on them.

In these situations, you may prefer to place your order through our specialist export service. However, please note that shipping costs charged by this service will be higher than the cost of the delivery service offered via the website.

Changing, cancelling or returning an order

We’re sorry that in most circumstances it’s not possible to make changes to your order once you’ve placed it. If you’d like to add products to your order, please place a new order for these items.

If you need to change details of your delivery address, remove items from your order or cancel it completely, please contact our Customer Services team for advice on +44 1698 54 54 54 seven days a week, between 7am and midnight (UK time), or email us here. Please be ready to quote your order number and order date.

If your order has already left our warehouse for delivery to you, then you’ll need to follow our Returns procedure in the event of any unwanted products.

To return items, please package them securely and send the parcel back to the address shown on your delivery note using the sticky label provided. If the item is simply unwanted, you will need to pay for postage.

If we have sent you the wrong items, or your order is faulty, damaged or not as described on arrival, please contact us. We will refund any postal charges you incur to return such items. Please note that this refund will be in sterling, and may therefore not equate exactly to the amound paid, owing to fluctuating exchange rates.

Please make sure that whatever your reason for returning goods, you obtain proof of postage from your post office, and we will credit your account as soon as possible.

Please note that personalised or made to measure products cannot be returned unless faulty, and we also cannot accept returns of unsealed CDs, DVDs, tapes or other recording media, software or video.
