Product information

Allow yourself freedom to cook as you please with the flexibility and advanced technology of the AEG HK654200FB induction hob. This induction hob offers 4 sections for maximum heat and has a powerful booster and front ‘direktouch’ controls for direct access to your desired cooking level.

At the touch of a finger, you have instant access to the hob's controls and immediate control to select the precise level of heat you need. An intelligent AutoMax function brings the zone up to the boil and then will reduce it to the pre-selected power level for the remainder of the cooking time. With the HK654200FB, it responds as soon as the pan touches the hob. It immediately heats the pan- and only the pan- to the right temperature.

Ultra-efficient induction works by creating a magnetic field between the hob and steel or iron pan. The heat is instant; it is easily controlled and energy efficient. Surfaces are very easy to clean and the bevelled edge design ensures no trapped dirt.

With an intelligent use of power, energy consumption can be easily reduced. An Öko Timer enables you to use energy more efficiently by using the hob's residual heat during the last few minutes of the cooking process. A handy CountUp timer enables you to closely monitor the progress of each dish. It starts at zero and keeps counting up until you stop or reset it.

14-stage digital power level displays keep you informed at all times. For each heat zone, an OptiHeat Control tracks the level of residual heat, so you can make the most of your remaining heat and optimise your energy usage. A stop and go with keep warm setting is ideal when your cooking is interrupted as this will resume to previously selected settings. If a cooking zone is left on, the power automatically cuts out after a set period. A control and child lock tops off this model.

Note: Only use pans suitable for induction hobs. These include: enamelled steel, iron, stainless steel (depending on the alloy) and some aluminium pans with a ferromagnetic base. Glass and copper bases are unsuitable.

Q & As

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 28 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great technology. Really great alternative to gas cooking given the speed and controllability. Safe and easy to clean. 17 May 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Really good so far Had this hob installed for a few weeks. Very impressed with how responsive it is, and how quickly it heats up and gets going. Our first induction hob. Food starts sizzling very quickly but can turn it down very quickly too. We did lots of research, and many induction hobs were criticised in reviews for beeping ,(or even worse turning themselves off !!) if anything spilt or overflowed onto them. Happy to report this one does neither, had water spill over from pan yesterday but hob stayed turned on, and was able to wipe it without affecting controls either. 14 April 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Instant control.......Love it! The speed of gas, but electric. I have had gas (cooking that is) and I have had Halogen hobs. They all have their pros' and cons'. With gas, they give of fumes that harm my wife's flowers (not good). With electric / halogen you need patience ( I don't have). Now I have "Induction".......Why have I wasted so much time? it's quick (very) it's clean and it's INSTANT! I put 1 litre of water into a 3kw kettle and the same into a combined aluminum/steel bottomed kettle on the 1.7kw hob. The hob was exactly 10 seconds slower but, used nearly 1/2 the power ( I can wait for 10 seconds, just) I rest my case. 10 April 2016
Rated 2 out of 5 by Didn't work as described This hob was a great disappointment. It heats water very quickly on full power, much quicker than the ceramic hob it replaced. However the auto feature, which is supposed to reduce the pan to your chosen heat setting after the water boils doesn't work. It just carried on boiling. Hob was very difficult to control, so that if you set it to simmer, and then came back a few minutes later the pan would have boiled over. Lower the temperature again, get it to simmer happily, come back a few minutes later and it would be boiling over again. Engineer came out three times but couldn't fix it so we sent it back for a refund. Very poor service from AEG, no way of contacting them directly. Manual very poorly written and the hob did not do what the manual and the advertising described. 23 March 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very impressed I am extremely happy with this hob which has replaced my previous ceramic hob. This one is so much more responsive, as quick as gas, and heats up really quickly, especially on the power setting. The controls are laid out well and are easy to use either by sliding your finger or just hitting the number you want. The stop/go button is useful if the phone rings and I have also used the timers. Cleaning is so much easier as the hob cools down as soon as the pan is removed making it easier to wipe up spills. I would definitely recommend this hob. 13 February 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by On a learning curve.... Only recently purchased this induction hob and still playing with controls and finding best way to cook things. Had to recycle all old pans and buy new suitable for induction so switch over a costly business. Still have to master art of making an omlette as tilting pan removes it from the heat source but I am sure, with practice, I will master the technique required. Overall I am pleased I made the change to induction and impressed by speed food heats up at. 12 January 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Dark and Mysterious and all the Ladies love it! Easy to master - Heats up in an instant but takes a few moments longer to cool down! 29 December 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by A bg advance I bought this hob to replace a 1970s style electric hob. It is much faster, much more responsive to changes of heat setting (instant response - as good as gas), and easy to keep clean. My old stainless steel saucepans work perfectly with the new hob. When first switched on at the mains, it is locked, and the few seconds taken to unlock it is easy, if a bit tedious after a while. On full power, it heats really fast, so you have to watch it if e.g. boiling milk. A safety weakness is that if a pan does boil over, the hot liquid obscures the controls so you can't switch anything off directly. I then have to switch off at the mains, which is not great; other similar hobs would seem to have the same design weakness. But with this proviso, this is a great product. 22 December 2015
