Q & As

Apple USB Superdrive, CD & DVD Reader/Writer 4.5 5 19 19
Efficient As you would expect, it works really well right out of the box, and does everything you want it to. No setup required, just plug and play. Burning CD's to iTunes is surprisingly fast, and playing DVD's is as fast as you'd expect a built in drive to work. Unfortunately, Apple's prices for even basic equipment such as this are quite high. Though you do get what you pay for, and it seems like a solid bit of kit. 07 October 2014
Excellent product good value I purchase this from the Reading branch. I plugged it into the USB socket of my computer which is running Windows 8.1 64 bit which immediately recognised the drive and was ready for use within minutes. 16 September 2014
Nice piece of kit This is literally plug and play on my iMac. Also looks very sleek. Not the fastest I have used but does the job. I have only used for transferring music from cd to my music library. Not yet experimented burning CDs so cannot comment on quality from that perspective. 13 August 2014
Useful addition for a computer without a reader/writer The superdrive compliments my iMac very well. Easy to set up, just plug and play. 08 July 2014
Plug and play - hassle free Bought the Apple USB superdrive to use with my Mac book air. Works a treat. Set up was hassle free, straight out of the box, plug and play. Highly recommended. 26 May 2014
Multisession burning of CDs & DVDs Apple Superdrive is very good in general use, but if you want to burn multisession to appendable disks such as CD-/+R or DVD-/+R and you are using Mavericks OSX with Disk Utility v13 then it will not allow you to do this. The boxes for checking in the dialogue box are 'greyed out', only allowing single burn operation. I am relegated to using my 2005 PC when I need to do a multisession burn. Apple do not encourage the use of disks these days. 20 May 2014
Excellent. Small and extremely easy to use, this is a great addition to my Mac Book Pro that has no DVD drive. The only thing I'd like to change is that the cable is quite short so you have to have space for it to sit next to the laptop unless you have an extension lead. It's typical Apple, it does what it says on the tin and very beautifully too. Totally recommended. 13 May 2014
Sleek and modern Product looks the part with the imac, small but does the job very quickly 13 May 2014
