Product information

With the Zeppelin Air, renowned speaker manufacturer Bowers and Wilkins have taken the sleek and curvaceous award-winning Zeppelin iPod speaker system, added the latest cutting-edge audio technology and a subtly improved stunning design, to create something very special.

Providing another seismic shift in audio performance, the Zeppelin Air has re-written the rules for iPod speaker docks. Maintaining its distinctive shape, the Zeppelin Air has been completely redesigned and re-mastered. Compared to its predecessor, the Zeppelin Air will deliver you improved dynamics, punchier bass and a more open, lifelike presentation with highly detailed, room-filling sound.

Apple’s AirPlay technology will allow you to wirelessly stream music directly from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or even your Laptop or PC, directly to your Zeppelin Air. Imagine being able to select and listen to any track from your entire music collection, instantly, and in pristine quality. It also uses Apple Lossless for a faultless music transfer.

If you have more than one Zeppelin Air, you can either choose an individual device to play your music on, or select every Zeppelin Air in your house, filling your home with pristine sound in party mode. It’s not just your music collection that the Zeppelin Air will wow you with. It’ll stream music from many games you play, providing you with a more immersive gaming experience as well as web streaming sites such as Last FM, Spotify and YouTube, which will all benefit from the clearer, superior sound provision the Zeppelin Air delivers.

Zeppelin Air’s bass output can be adjusted via your iPod or iPhone so you can optimize the sound to suit your surroundings. You can vary the bass level according to the amount of space around the speaker, giving you refined sounds, even in confined spaces. Its fully active 2.1 design means that all five units are individually driven by audiophile class D amplifiers, and advanced Digital Signal Processing has dramatically improved the bass performance compared to the Zeppelin. The Digital to Analogue Converters have also been upgraded, with new 24bit/96KHz capabilities.

A 3.5mm analogue mini jack and an optical digital input (TOSlink) are also featured, so almost any digital music device or portable music player can benefit from the Zeppelin Air’s warmly detailed sound (linking cables not included).

Q & As

B&W Zeppelin Air iPod Speaker with Apple Lightning and Apple AirPlay 3.4 5 5 5
Super sound Excellent sound from this impressive piece of kit. Really simple to set up and can be used all around the house providing room filling sound. I am really happy with this purchase! 07 May 2014
Brilliant Product, easy setup and great sound. I have had mine for 2 years now I bought it from Apple but I can't understand the one star reviews here. Setup is simple, it even has its own built in wifi network if you need it, sound quality is superb. I suggest those complaining buy a decent wifi router with dual wireless G and N. Pointless paying £500 for a speak if you are going to then use a cheap router, come on guys use some common sense. Bear in mind that the standard give-away BT routers are hopeless as are the Virgin ones. Service from B&W is absolutely first class as you would expect from a quality based company. If you have any genuine issues talk to them I assure you they will resolve them for you. I am now thinking of buying another one for my dining room and I don't spend £500 on an wireless speaker or anything else lightly. Buy without hesitation 16 January 2014
Appallingly useless setup procedure The setup procedure of this speaker was next to useless. Done via an app but no mention within the app that your wireless network cannot be wireless 'n' only, it must be mixed 'g/n' mode or 'g'. Instead you are left to scour the internet for answers whilst the thing remains unconnected. Bear this in mind of you are left with a purple flashing light requiring continual resets to get nowhere. The supplied documentation is as pathetic as the setup app - a posturing brochure of very pretty pics of other B&W products helps setup not one bit. It was almost on its way back to John Lewis. Once setup however the sound is fantastic, albeit a little boomy at first - more scouring of the internet to find the answers. And of course as a piece of furniture the thing is absolutely stunning. A nice piece of kit let down by rubbish setup app and rubbish documentation. 10 November 2013
Superb sound as well as style This is my second Zeppelin, bought a week ago in the Bluewater store. I have the older Zeppelin with the 30 pin connector and was needing another dock. I looked at the various docks in-store, compared the sound quality and couldn't find anything that sounded better or looked even half as good. The airplay side of the dock is stable, I'm pleased to say, which it wasn't on the first dock until a couple of updates fixed it. This worked perfectly right out the box, with setup via the b&w app. Sound wise, the Zeppelin is unmatched, with a perfectly neutral sound that makes everything from Classical to Rap sound amazing. Note that setup in a room can affect the sound to a large extent, so worth experimenting on how far you position from walls / corners, etc. Overall, the Zeppelin is the best dock on the market today. 13 October 2013
Quality? well, you live and learn! I thought that this make would have been of better quality, well, you live and learn! Looks and sound are great (when it is working). A little on the pricey side when you have to dish out on a not so cheap technical service fee every two years once the guarantee has run out. The ipod dock doesn´t seem as stable as I had hoped, especially when I hardly touch it. When I first bought the product there weren´t as many other options out there for quality sound systems... now there are. So I´ll be looking into other products that will cost the same as the reparation fees I´ve been having to pay. 02 October 2013
