Q & As

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 17 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Really great gate We use the gate for when our grandchildren stay. So we chose this gate as its easy to remove and then replace when the grand children come to stay. Also having no central bar across the top of the stairs is a definite benefit. The wood looks very nice. As others have said, the assembly instructions leave "considerable room for improvement" - but we got there in the end 08 December 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great stair gate Very happy with this stairgate. Husband fitted it easily. Lots of visitors have commented on how great it is to be non-trip and have said they wish they had bought it or will go and get one. 20 October 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy to use, hard to fit I cheated and got a carpenter to fit it (we had quite a complicated bannister to fit it to and wanted an additional split fitted). The instructions were rubbish, and neither of us could make any sense of them. They were pictures rather than words, and incomprehensible. Once actually fitted it's easy to use with one hand, unlike several other gates for which my thumbs aren't strong enough. It's also fairly intuitive so visitors can work it out. The wooden version is nice looking and well-made. Any chance you could stock it in white as well? 09 September 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Impossible to fit Spent 4 hours with my husband trying to fit it. Not helped by the manufacturer only using symbols in the instructions (presumably to save money translating any words into different languages). After 4 hours we fitted it - and found it simply doesn't work. Everytime we unlatch it from one end to try and open it - it simply slides off the hinges on the other end. Probably the most difficult and frustrating product I have ever bought! 30 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product - not so hard to fit! I originally avoided this product, due to the reviews stating how hard it was to install. Having purchased and returned an alternative product, the exchange for this product was more in hope than expectation. However, it was successfully installed in half the time and happily coped with the nuanced angles of our period property. Yes, the plastic hinges didn't initially feel the most solid but they have since proved to have the required strength - whilst the wood finish is just nicer than the white metal alternative (for us). 24 June 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by terrible to fit! Just spent nearly two hours trying to fit the stairgate to eventually concede it just does not fit despite my best efforts! Very fiddly with terrible instructions. As another reviewer said I had to make some wooden blocks to attach to the wall for the top fittings as the skirting board on my stairs meant that it was not possible to fit without, it assumes you have flat walls which was not clear in the description. Also the fitting feel very flimsy on the hinges. I have now taken it down and will return, do not recommend. 03 April 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by great but...... BEWARE, if you do not follow instructions the punishment is mercy-less, even when followed, fitting is very tricky. To be fair the instructions are poor, everything is left and right handed (even if it fits on either end). Having fitted it, (wood is not perfectly flat) and having re-adjusted a handful of times. I am a happy bunny. 04 July 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Lovely but problematic was v difficult to fix, numerous adjustments needed. I got a carpenter to fix the gate but even with fine tuning it was still not perfect. When coming down stairs holding a baby it needs to be operated with one hand but is difficult even with two hands. 27 May 2014
