This giclee reproduction is a reproduction of an original graphic prints by Barbara Hepworth, made between 1969 and 1971. Using screen print and lithograph techniques, the print demonstrates an abstract sense of space, form and texture through the use of transparent smooth layers and bold mark-making that reflect the characteristics of Hepworth’s sculpture.
Barbara Hepworth’s aluminium prototype for Winged Figure (1961-3) was commissioned by John Lewis for their flagship branch in London’s Oxford Street. Almost 6 metres high, it is the only working model to survive for the monumental commissions Hepworth received in later life. Winged Figure has become a much-loved, familiar sight to millions of shoppers over the last 50 years.
The print is presented on textured torn paper on a float mount with an ash wood frame.
