The one known as Jean wore spaghetti in her hair and used the glowin' behinds of fireflies to create elaborate face paintings. Jane, on the other hand, spent hours counting Raisinettes, biting them in half, then trading the smaller versions to her younger cousins for real-size M&Ms. "Miraculous," said the townsfolk. "Jean has a right brain, Jane has a left... together these two just might do something crazy!"
And they did! In 1976, the Ford twins created a unique San Francisco beauty boutique with a whimsical candy store atmosphere. "Who says makeup has to be serious to be good?" they said. The shop grew famous for delivering quick fixes for every gal's peskiest beauty dilemmas, and with a "double" dose of wackiness mixed with know how, the twins successfully built Benefit Cosmetics into a global beauty brand. The "friskiest luxury brand" now has over 2,000 counters in more than 30 countries.
Jean's daughters and Jane's nieces, Maggie and Annie Ford-Danielson, are Benefit's next generation, brand ambassadors and global trend artists in their own right, eager to infuse the brand with eclectic tastes. The fab four are guaranteed to keep the creative juices flowing, ensuring that Benefit continue to deliver feel-good products for every woman.
