Q & As

Belkin Surf N300 Wireless Router for ADSL Connections 1 5 3 3
How could John Lewis possibly recommend this router? I bought this router after it was recommended by a John Lewis partner but before reading the reviews which were spot on. It is only possible to install it with windows software. I spent an hour trying to instal it with my Mac but only succeeded after using my partner's PC. I told the partner that I had a Mac After couple of days the signal started to weaken and it took longer to get on line and the signal no longer reached my wireless printer. Another product for the land waste! 13 August 2014
Doesn't work on a Mac My BT Homehub went down and I bought this to tide me over whilst awaiting a replacement. To be fair it is one of the cheapest routers on the market and I wouldn't expect miracles. But I was unable to install it on a Mac. it comes with an installation CD. Attempted installation meets with a "blocked pop - up" which it is not possible to overcome. This happened on an iMac running Mountain Lion and a Macbook running Snow Leopard. No phone number for a help desk apparent. Thanks goodness for John Lewis's no - quibble returns policy! 22 January 2014
Compatibility Issues Beware, there are serious compatibility issues between this router and the Mac OSX system. Wifi does not work (password issues) unless you first configure the router via an ethernet connection, so if you have a MacBook Air (no ethernet socket), like me, you are stuffed. No it does not say that on the box, or in the manual, and I have only established this after an hour on the phone to Belkin Support in India. Mine is going back to the shop for a refund in the morning.... Even if I was able to connect to an iMac I do not see why I should have to frankly - It should connect straight to wifi out of the box, rather than fiddle around with cables. 12 August 2013
