I researched this item before purchasing and as it is backed by the British Allergy Foundation I had high hopes. There was no improvement to my allergies and it is very noisy. An expensive ornament!

I have had this thing for some time now and from day one I'm not sure what its ever done beside make some noise. The air flow rate is tiny and oddly is expelled at almost 90 degrees to the front opening. It surprises me no one makes mention of this. additionally while it can swivel it cant move on it own. Finally lastly, it has made no discernible difference except to my electricity bill.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Mybh Does it work for dust mite allergy?
The product details doesn't tell you about the size of particles that this purifier can trap. Only after opening the box and reading the manual, I realized that it filters particles 'as small as 2 microns'.
That means mould spores and pollen. No wonder it didn't work for my son.
Remember, the dust allergy is not due to dust particles or the dust mites [which are bigger in size] but actually to a protein in the excrement of dust mites, which in a powdered form is much smaller than 2 microns in size.
Delonghi, for the same price, claims to trap particles as small as 0.3 microns. I am going to try that and feedback later!
Also, Bionaire has HEPA 'type' filter [does that mean not a true HEPA filter?] unlike the D brand.
The product itself is of very good quality. It is quieter than a normal fan, even in full speed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Simon911 Seems to make a difference
Bought this after doing some searching, and concluding it was expensive enough to possibly be effective but not too much to risk if it didn’t.
Having tried it for a while now in the bedroom it does seem to make the air feel fresher – it’s very subjective of course and hard to be sure. However – what is more objective is the reduced level of dust in the room. It still appears but less so than before.
I don’t use the auto function as I can’t see how that is ever going to work. The fan just runs at low speed presumably sensing the air that flows through the machine and then turning up the wick if it senses contaminants. Problem with this is at low speed it will just be cleaning the air around it. Not a scientific assessment but I can’t see the logic being wrong.
So I just run it at full chat with the ioniser on too.
I tried leaving it on overnight at low speed but it got noisy after a few days – that typical fan bearing rattle type of noise that all domestic fans seem to end up making. The solution for me is to run it flat out all day and turn it off at night. Seems effective and it doesn’t keep me aware with its fan’s rattle.
The ability to clean the filters with a vacuum is handy too – be warned though – doing this is fiddly.
All in all it’s worth the money and seems to do what you would reasonably expect of it.

we purchased this air purifier after our daughter, who has a severe dust mite allergy went to University. within two days of arriving in her halls of residence she was very poorly. After installing the purifier she revovered to full health within 2 weeks. We chose to buy this product which has a removable/cleanable filter. It is amazing how much dirt accumulates on a weekly basis.

Purchased the air purifier on the strength of the positive reviews. I personally found the the unit to be quite noisy even on the low setting, and being placed on the bedroom carpet floor the unit would start to rumble as the fan rotates. I found it impossible to ignore the sound and get a good night's sleep. Also because the unit is blowing cold air all night I found myself waking up in the morning shivering. Therefore the unit is not ideal for cold autumn and winter nights unless you sleep with a wooly hat and duffle coat on. Lastly the unit even though plugged in but switched off would emit a loud buzzing noise that would start and stop every 15 minutes or so. Lost patience with and got a refund.
