Q & As

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 43 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Lasted three years but I expected more I bought this iron about 3 years ago, so I guess compared to some reviews I can't complain, but here are my thoughts: - Returned the first one as the plastic water filler was broken - of course JL were very happy to sort that out for me - I was constantly refilling the iron with water - to the point that I started using a 1 litre measuring jug when ironing as otherwise spent half my time going back & forth to the kitchen. One iron refill lasts about 2 shirts. - The cable does catch when you're ironing, mainly on the ironing board. I think over time I've adapted my style but it was annoying! - I noticed that the flex which goes into the iron started to come away from the covering the cable in the last month or so, probably because of the way it's designed to wrap the flex tightly around the handle. this could be dangerous so keep an eye on yours if you buy this iron. - The handle makes it unstable on the ironing board - just last night I nearly burnt myself stopping it from going flying and I would NEVER do the ironing with my children around for fear of real injury - The final nail in the coffin. Today i decided to descale the iron. Admittedly for the first time. So hands up as the instructions say to this fortnightly. But i followed the instructions carefully and religiously. I noticed the iron wasn't heating up and left it half an hour, then went back, to find the power (house) had gone off. Every time i plugged in the iron it tripped our main circuit board. My Dad (and ex-electrician) has tested it and the iron is officially dead. I wish I hadn't bothered! 12 May 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by OK, but not special Bought this to replace our Philips which lasted only a year. Big fan of all things Bosch but this one is up to their mark. Water tank small (expected that from other reviews) but not this small/short-tanged, and an extremely light iron (know the spec. sheet has its weight but this is too light). Otherwise we will have to see how long this lasts for. 22 April 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy ironing This iron is light weight and makes ironing extremely easy. It heats up quickly and stays at the correct temperature whilst ironing. The only downside is that it could do with a bigger water chamber, as it runs out if you're doing a big load of ironing. 03 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by First class product This Bosch TDA5621GB Power Plus Steam Iron is excellent for the whole wash. It is lovely to work with; superb design, just the right weight, and gives first class results. The only very slight negative I would mention is that you have to fill up the water tank up quite frequently. Personally I do not have a problem with this because the results are excellent. Also it does have the added advantage being designed to use tap water, which saves money in that you do not need to buy ironing water. Having said that,I do like the lovely freshness of the ironing water I normally use{cotton flower & exotic Ylang} so I dilute the ironing water with two measures of tap water. You are not supposed to do this as the iron is specifically designed for use with tap water, but I have been doing this for ages{this is my second Bosch steam iron] and I have never had a problem. I highly recommend this steam iron, which is currently very competitively priced. 03 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by great iron very pleased with this iron - lighter weight and great steamer! 27 January 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by 2nd time lucky First of these stopped steaming within the 1st year which is a shame as it irons beautifully. Replacement one so far is working well and functioning we think better than the first. 11 November 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Dangerous! Where do I begin? I am quite disappointed in this product due to bosch being such a reliable brand. Here are the problems that I have experienced: 1) The base is extremely unsteady. This makes the product is very dangerous. It has dropped a few times and the base has now cracked, not very happy! 2) It generates a lot of steam, and while this means it irons well, the water runs out too quickly and I have to pour water several times whilst getting through a load of clothes! 3) Its extremely noisy with the steam function on. Such a shame that this product has major flaws because the product itself looks good and irons well. I will be looking for a new iron. 05 November 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Really Unstable There are two real design flaws with this iron - 1. It seems to run out of water really quickly - I can iron two or three shirts maximum before refilling it. 2. This is the more worrying, it's dangerously unstable on the base. It has toppled off the ironing board twice due to the cable getting caught round the base as it was set down. If it hadn't cost so much I'd have got rid of it some time ago. 11 August 2014
