Braun °CoolTec CT2cc Shaver

Product information

The °CoolTec CT2cc is a revolutionary new dry shaver that has the power to take the heat out of shaving and put shaving irritation on ice. This power, combined with stylish design and thoughtful engineering makes °CoolTec a technologically advanced dry shaver, delivering outstanding shaving performance for men with sensitive skin.

The secret element in the °CoolTec is Braun’s innovative Thermo-Electric-Cooling technology (TEC). Whilst most shavers allow warmth to build up in the head of the shaver, °CoolTec has an innovative aluminium cooling bar integrated into its head that actively cools down the skin during shaving, minimising shaving redness, burning and itching sensations, leaving a cool and refreshed trace behind.

Q & As

Rated 1 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Disappointing I had high expectations for this product. Three previous Braun shavers (the 380-s4) had all failed well within the guarantee period so there was no way I was having another one (thank goodness I bought from John Lewis). I decided to pay the difference and get the Cool-tech shaver, mainly because it uses lithium batteries rather than the NiMH of the 380 series that kept failing. It has some nice features: it charges quickly and the cooling strip actually works; the automatic cleaning facility works pretty well too. Unfortunately it falls down in its basic function, i.e. it doesn't actually shave particularly well compared with other shavers like the 380-s4. I think this is partly because the two foil elements have to be too far apart so as to make room for the cooling strip. Also, the centre cutter is a menace and will nick your lip if you're not careful. On the 380s I had you could slide a button to skew the heads so that didn't happen. I found holding the shaver upside-down helped a little. The manual says you shouldn't use gel or foam, yet this shaver needs it more than most as the cooling strip prevents it from gliding smoothly over your skin (or mine anyway). Unfortunately yesterday morning it refused to work even with a decent charge in the battery. The travel-lock light came on instead, but then the motor started for a second or two and stopped again. Later on, in the middle of the night it woke me up by giving three beeps for no obvious reason, and later on still the motor started for a second or so and stopped when I was nowhere near it. This is similar to the way my first 380-s4 failed. In my opinion Braun seem to have a problem with the control units on these shavers. This is now the fourth Braun shaver I've had in just over a year and apart from the first 380-s4 that lasted 7 months, none of them has lasted more than 3. I'm embarrassed to keep having to return the things to Lewis's, but I've just found them hopelessly unreliable. 10 November 2014
