Q & As

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Reasonably priced but very effective I needed a new machine after having my old one for 35 years and I am delighted with my new Brother. The needle threader is a real bonus. Haven't tried all the stitches yet but can't wait to. 29 May 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good, easy to use and fairly priced Very pleased with the product information and the assistance available when I purchased in store! I've found the Brother Ds140 very easy to understand using the enclosed dvd and instruction manual. I am not quite a beginner but by no means am I very experienced. I mostly use the machine for dressmaking and feel it suits sewing light to medium fabrics and there are plenty of stiches and accesories to explore. 08 May 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant basic machine with a lot more ummph This machine is excellent for the beginner or those with experience. It has the ability to progress your skills and it an excellent all rounder; there are loads of other compatible feet available to take your sewing to another level. I have upgraded to another Brother but still us this machine for most things as it's lightweight, so easy to use and just basically brilliant. Would not be without it. 20 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by brilliant sewing machine lightweight, even stitches easy to use and self threading . love it already made curtains on it and can't wait to use again. substantial without being heavy really a dream to use. so many stitches and extras like buttonholes etc., make it well worth the extra money spent over a basic model. highly recommended. 14 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to use and perfect for the Job I recently decided to take the step up from hand sewing/embriodery and get a sewing machine. After looking at lots of other different models I choose this model as it looked good for a beginner but also for when I have some experience. This machine is perfect. Does everything I want it for and is really simple to use. Even my Nan can use it and she is starting to struggle with her old machine. The speed setting is very useful when learning how to use a machine and the start stop button is an excellent feature. I have nearly completed my first project (an apron) and it has been great so far. I look forward to furnishing my new home with it. 22 January 2013
