Q & As

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by A bit disappointing Having had HP OfficeJets in the past I was hoping this would be of comparable performance. I was looking for an A3 printer/scanner this time and the HP could print A3 but not scan. The reviews seemed good so I ordered one (Feb 2015). The scanning in particular is very convoluted compared to HP. Even with shortcuts there are quite a lot of staggered keystrokes before the scan is complete. Unless you stand over the scanner while the scan progresses (so you can press the appropriate answer) the scan times out and you have to start again. The auto-crop is a bit hit-and-miss too. Sometimes it correctly crops the document/photo/etc. but often it doesn’t. I’m resigned to importing about 50% of the scans into a phot editor to do my own cropping. I’ve been prompted to write this review today after having given up trying to print a picture onto photo paper in the A3 tray. I’ve used the sample Brother photo paper that came with the printer following the “Important” instruction: “You must load a minimum of two (2) sheets of paper into the tray.” and “..... adding one additional sheet of photo paper beyond the number of sheets you intend to print will prevent any paper loading problems” (Not true!). Top tip: When printing colour photos, always go into the printer properties and select ‘Vivid’ ; the ‘Natural’ setting never looks anything like the original image. 22 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent printer but a word of warning. The printer is excellent. The wireless feature means the whole family can use it for colour and b&w document printing as well as A3 printing and we have no complaints at all. Beware though of buying ink cartridges that claim to be compatible. I bought 'compatible' cartridges from 2 different outlets and the printer didn't recognise any of them. The genuine Brother cartridges presented no such problems and were recognised at once. My advice? Stick to the genuine article. Had to chuck away all the other cartridges so it would've been cheaper and easier to buy the right ones from the start. 28 June 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Plan printing inexpensive, use good quality paper for good results, not good for large areas of solid fill colour. slow with A3 plans if file large. Perfectly acceptable for small business use. 13 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brother Printer This printer was easy to install and so far is working really well. Inks easy to install as well. Printing is clear. Have not used it for photographs yet. 14 April 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Does as it says Had this around 3 weeks now and no problems so far easy to set up and printing quality and speed are both fine. 18 February 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Briiliant! Easy to use, simple instructions, great for A3 printing!! Fantastic machine! 29 January 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great all in one printer This is a great printer with two paper trays which means that you can easily print documents that have mixed paper sizes. The print speed is good too!! graphics quality is OK but is it not really a photo printer. Another useful feature is the A3 scanner which enables A3 sheets to be scanned in a single pass. 02 April 2014
