The stylish BT 6510 will help you rid yourself of unwanted calls interrupting you at home. With its new Call Control feature you can choose which calls you answer, and which calls are sent straight to the answer machine. For example, you can block all International and Withheld numbers, cutting out a large proportion of unwanted sales calls. You can also block up to 10 specific numbers to stop any particular nuisances from contacting you too.

It’s stylish design is intended for function, as well as form. Featuring a 1.8-inch full graphic display, it’s clear and easy to read, while improved, larger speakers mean much better quality of sound.

A Do Not Disturb function will allow you some peace and quiet, ensuring the phone won’t ring or light up to disturb you, while certain contacts can be marked as VIPs- enabling them to get to you even in your peaceful moments.

Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor software I had to exchange my first purchase of this phone system since it regularly failed to recognise incoming calls, a service it claimed to provide. The same system replacement behaved in exactly the same way. I have now switched to a Panasonic and that is performing precisely as it should. BT Customer Services were less than helpful in resolving my initial problems but John Lewis were very responsive. I wouldn't touch a BT product again! 27 October 2014

Rated 3 out of 5 by Not quite what it says We bought the BT6510 phone because we read that it has a function to block those awful, unwanted, sales calls, spam calls and such like. So, once having set up the phone we enabled Block Calls... but it didn't. Apparently, you have to subscribe to BTs (payable) service for this, and we're with Sky. Also, the first set of 4 phones we had developed faults on 3 of the 4 handsets and had to be replaced. John Lewis were excellent at that - no bother - new set of phones came quickly. But if you're looking for a new phone(s) I'd consider NOT buying BTs products: there's some others that John Lewis sell which are better - and have nicer ringing tones, too! 14 January 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Rubbish These phones broke for no apparent reason and now cannot answer calls or call out. Of course this was two months after warranty ran out and BT refuse to recognise this or help in any way. I won't be buying any BT branded kit again. 14 November 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Would be Very good phone, but the loudspeaker lets it down I purchased my first set of these BT6510 Quad phones on 30th May to replace my 14 year old set of BT Synergy Quad phones that have been superb but have now started to let me down. I like the option of being able to bar nuisance calls so the BT6510 seemed to fit my bill. I brought the phones home, set them up, loaded all my contacts (that was very easy to do) and began to use the phones very happily. But when I tried the first hands free loudspeaker conversation all my callers sound as though they are speaking ‘under water’ and I was unable to understand what they were saying. Switching back to normal ear speaker mode made conversation normal again. I tested this out with a few friends and each time the Loudspeaker system failed. I tested each handset and also tested them on another BT socket in the house, but still the same problem occurs. John Lewis have very kindly supplied me with a replacement set but sadly the replacement set has the same problem. I have now reported the problem directly to BT who suggested: that I try the phone in a neighbour’s house, that it might be a fault with my phone line, that the phone is getting a bad signal, or that something in the house is causing interference … (The BT wiring in my house is post 2002 so should be fine and works with all the other phones that I have used in the house. If it is a problem with the wiring or a problem with the signal then all this is rather strange because it works fine when held to my ear… and only fails when the loudspeaker is operated for hands free use!) I am very disappointed with this phone as it is impossible to use ‘hands free’ and so have to consider changing the phone to one made by a different manufacturer as I am unlikely to trust another BT phone now as they are likely to use the same technology. So although it is otherwise very good this phone is totally let down by the hands free loudspeaker facility that I have experienced and so is therefore no good for me. 06 June 2013
