BT Baby Monitor 250
Good while it lasts
We bought one of these before our baby was born and it worked wonderfully for a year. We almost always had the monitor on the charger base in our living room, so battery life was not a problem. I'm not sure what happened with the mute button for another reviewer, ours would beep and flash if there was any crying with the mute on.
However, after about a year this stopped working suddenly and completely. We didn't bother replacing it because we were all so tired we were going to bed at the same time anyway but I would have liked it to last long enough for a second baby, so I am quite frustrated with it's durability.

Very poor battery life
We had the old version of this monitor for our first child, so when our second was born, we instinctively chose another BT product, but we've been really disappointed with this one.
It's a year old now and the battery life is terrible. Our cradle is in our bedroom, so the monitor isn't being charged during the day. Although I ensure i turn it off when it's not being used, the battery never lasts for my son's second nap: Something the previous BT model used to do easily. Surely a requirement of a monitor should be to last a day without additional charge ?! Cordless house phones can last days without being charged, why can't this ?
The torch is easily turned on by accident and the screen no longer has the full display.
It does seems to be all about looks and not the actual usage of the monitor.
Expected more. Will not buy a BT monitor again.

We bought this as we trusted both the BT and John Lewis brands and were impressed by the features it had. However we have been completely disappointed and will be returning it for a refund shortly. There are some design elements that could be better, for example the mute button on the top can be switched on accidentally if wearing clipped on to belt and when this happened twice I didn't hear my baby crying. More seriously the temperature measure is out by 2 degrees and the battery life is poor. I'm surprised that JL sell it and would strongly urge parents to steer clear of this. I nearly didn't buy it when the woman in front of me in the queue was returning her 5th one due to battery life. I wish I had listened to her feedback.

Very Good Product
This is the third baby monitor. The first two were motorola affairs and definitely not up to scratch. This one was recommended to us by my friend. We are very impressed with the sound quality, extremely clear and loud enough.
The extra features are great though we dont use them often. The most useful feature has to be the ability to talk to baby. The capability to carry it around is also very helpful.
The only downside is the charging. Im not sure how accurate the battery bars really are. Ours tends to stay on one bar but lasts all day.
I'd highly recommend this product even with the small quirk.

Not as good as previous model BT 150
My BT 150 died after 3 years as batteries leaked - couldn't get a replacement so got this one instead. Disagree with some reviews saying the cradle topples - I find the base quite sturdy. The coloured light indicator is good too & the torch & lullaby tunes are much better (real classical music not synthesised!). Range seems good too -battery life isn't huge but I generally don't leave it on the cradel. The only thing is that if you have the volume up at full on the parent unit you hear a lot of interference so its necessary to turn it down which kind of defeats the purpose. Also if you have music playing in the nursery and your baby cries it is almost impossible to hear the crying over the music as it is so loud & it doesnt seem to distinguish the two. I might be wrong but I thought the older version cut the music off when it was interrupted by a cry. Anyway its reliable enough and a more ergonomic versions but I wish they hadn't messed with this version so much!

Great when it works, but has a very poor life span
This monitor is great when it works, although the other comments about accidentally turning on the night light and talk back are valid - You do have to watch out for this.
The sound quality and range are both very good, but the temperature gauge is not to be trusted.
The biggest issue is the life span of the product. Ours started having problems around the 1 year mark. I appreciate that most appliances come with a one year warranty, but should typically last longer than this.
Issues have included turning itself off, a disappearing display screen and appalling battery charge (although we have replaced these which has helped).

We kept our baby in the same room as us at all times for the first three months so using a monitor for us was a big thing. This one was recommended by friends and its not disappointed. It picks up every movement and sound without any interference and I have total confidence in the system. The parent handset has a great range so Ive even used it out in the garden during the day. We've not used the other features other than the night light which is handy. Simple and easy to use

We had the old version of this for our first child it was good however this is awful even unsafe issues as follows:
Buttons to sensitive easy to switch onto mute without realising at night when tired
Cradle is awful if not sat in exactly monitor does not charge and can not hear baby
Handset gives massive feedback wail/shriek waking baby if you come anywhere near base unit with handset
No temperature readout on base unit kind of essential when your handset can not come near base unit without massive feedback wail see above comment
Temperature sensor inaccurate out by 2 Celsius to high
Easy to turn torch on accidentally
Easy to turn talk on accidentally waking baby
Sometimes does not turn on properly
If I could rate less than 1 star I would it is plain and simple dangerous
