Freesat lets you experience the brilliance of subscription-free high definition TV and much, much more. Discover what’s on offer and how to get it – you’ll soon be putting your feet up and enjoying a wealth of entertainment.

What is freesat?

freesat is a brand new digital service offering a world of TV, radio, interactive TV, and high definition programmes from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, with no contract, no subscription - just a one-off payment.

Want to catch up with the news headlines, get an update on the weather, or find out if your team has won? By pressing the red button on your freesat remote, you can get the information you want through easy-to-use menus. Or how about switching stages at music festivals, or tables at snooker tournaments? Interactive TV is as fun as it is informative!

What’s on

There's a huge choice of entertainment with freesat including movies, music, sport, lifestyle, children's, shopping, news and more. With over 200 channels available (many in HD), including your favourite radio stations, you’ll never be bored. Finding what you want is easy too, thanks to the electronic programme guide.

Freetime

Freetime brings new features to Freesat, including: a roll back guide that lets you ‘turn back time’to watch programmes that have already been on, a Showcase section with handpicked programme recommendations, enhanced On Demand and recordings. The Freesat mobile companion app also offers the ability to plan, record and manage programmes and directly control the TV

Can I receive freesat where I live?

With freesat being broadcast via satellite, it’s available to almost every household in the UK. You’ll need a fully installed satellite dish. If you don’t have one, installation can be arranged in our shops.

What equipment do I need?

To receive freesat you’ll need:

  • A satellite dish installed and connected to the receiver

Do you already have a satellite dish?

Yes – It may be possible for you to receive freesat with your current dish.

No – We recommend that your dish is supplied and installed by a qualified satellite installer. This can be arranged when you purchase your freesat receiver in store.

What about installation?

We offer a range of installation options, starting at £78 for a standard installation. This includes:

  • A satellite dish and external components 
  • Fixing the dish to a suitable outer wall, up to 10 metres above ground level 
  • Up to 10m of cabling to supply one room of your household 
  • Cable ties and clips to neatly run the cabling from the dish to the entry point 
  • Connection of one freesat receiver to the dish 

  • Signal strength and functional check of dish and freesat receiver 
  • Tuning and demonstration of freesat receiver 
  • Other options are available, such as connection to a freesat receiver with a built-in recorder or connection to more than one room.

I want freesat – how do I get it?

It’s simple to get freesat:

  • Call into your local John Lewis shop 
  • Choose your desired compatible digital box, personal video recorder (PVR) or TV with freesat built in 
  • Arrange installation with a member of staff

Remember, after your one-off payment for the digital box, the satellite dish and installation, your viewing is FREE, no contract, no subscription–ever.

Once you’ve got freesat you’ll be pleased to know your digital box is automatically updated with the latest channels and services as they become available. The most taxing thing you’ll ever need to worry about is which of the great channels you’re going to watch next.
