Paint buying guide

We brings you beautiful paints by two leading British interior design brands – Sanderson and The Little Greene Paint Company.

Little Greene’s truly timeless range of high quality, environmentally friendly paints are available in a comprehensive colour palette, incorporating both historic and contemporary shades, from authentic Georgian, Victorian and 20th century colours to the uber-cool Grey Collection.

The Sanderson Design studio has created the Sanderson Collection: a colour palette of 140 subtle shades from the Spectrum colour range, specially selected to work with Sanderson‘s renowned wallpapers and fabrics.

Why choose premium paints?

Both Little Greene and Sanderson manufacture in the UK, using the highest quality ingredients. Their premium paints are a more economical choice than cheaper paints as they give better coverage. The high pigmentation, great depth of colour and beautiful flat finish will make a real difference to your walls.

In addition, Little Greene’s range of “Intelligent” paints are so-named because they have been designed to be easy to apply, gentle on the environment and completely child-safe. A smart choice for you and your home.

Choosing colours

The appearance of paint colours will vary according to other paints, fabrics, and lighting conditions in a room and even the time of day. To help you make the right choice, we strongly recommend you apply a tester pot and observe the changing conditions in natural and artificial light.

Choosing your paint finish

For the flattest finish on walls, use Little Greene Absolute matt emulsion or Sanderson matt emulsion.

For areas requiring a tougher, washable finish such as kitchen walls, hallways and children’s rooms, use Little Greene Intelligent matt emulsion.

Little Greene Intelligent eggshell and Sanderson water-based eggshell, are the popular choice for woodwork. Both have a smart low sheen, dry quickly and can also be used on walls to achieve a completely scrubbable surface.

For woodwork Little Greene Intelligent Gloss is a quick drying, low odour, full gloss finish, that gives a brilliant finish.

Traditionalists might favour Sanderson’s oil-based paints for interior and exterior woodwork and metalwork. Oil-based eggshell has the same attractive flat quality, while the oil-based gloss has a smart, high sheen.

The environment

All Little Greene and Sanderson paints are fully compliant with European Commission directives (2010). Water based paints contain virtually no VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) and oil based paints are formulated using naturally occurring vegetable oils in place of harmful solvents.
