Brand information
A leading producer of glass paperweights, Caithness was founded in 1961 when it only made bowls, vases and drinking glasses. Nowadays it has a collection of over 2,500 paperweights each of which is designed by one of Caithness’s own designers and then handmade by skilled glassmakers.
Important milestones for the company include the late 1960s when they acquired a Royal Warrant as a recognised supplier of glass to the Queen Mother, 1976 when the Caithness Collectors Society was launched as somewhere paperweight enthusiasts could share their passion for glassmaking and respect for paperweight design, and the 1990s when Colin Terris (Head of the Design and Engraving Studio) was awarded an MBE for his contribution to British glass.
