Product information

Ideal for the nature or sports photographer looking exceptioanl range and quality. The Canon EF 70-300mm L series telephoto lens is ready to give your professional results. It combines cutting-edge design with versatile range and image stabilisation for exceptionally detailed results, even at extreme zooms.

Key benefits:

  • The EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM features Image Stabilisation (IS), making it ideal for handheld and telephoto work. Shutter speeds up to three stops slower no increase in image blur.
  • When panning horizontally, the IS system can be set to correct only for unwanted vertical shake, and the system switches off when the camera is mounted on a tripod.
  • L-series lenses combine superior performance and great handling, with resistance to dust and moisture.
  • Just 143mm long this lens is right at home on assignments where staying maneuverable while maintaining image quality is key.
  • UD (ultra-low dispersion glass) glass lens control colour distortion. The result is crisp, high-contrast images, free of colour fringing and other unwanted effects.
  • An ultrasonic motor (USM) powers rapid - near silent - autofocus. Full manual override is available, making it possible to adjust focus without leaving AF mode.
  • Super Spectra coating keeps colour balance vibrant and accurate, while reducing unwanted flare and ghosting for sharper images than ever.
  • The circular aperture gives out of focus regions a softer feel making foreground objects stand out against a smoother, blurred background.
  • Includes a soft case to keep it safe from bumps and scratches.
  • For use with Canon DSLR cameras.

Q & As

Rated 5 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very Sharp This is probably the sharpest zoom L lens that Canon produce. The zoom range is very useful. It's a very well build lens but not too heavy. I've used it on a photo shoot as a walk about lens. The image quality is great and it's a joy to use knowing the great results I'll get. It's not cheap but most of the reviews I read before buying awarded it four and a half to five stars. 10 November 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great image quality Fast & accurate auto focusing, full-time manual override as well for very tricky subjects. Zoom and focus rings smooth and easy to use. Doesn't suffer from zoom creep. Very good image quality. Not a lightweight lens but worth the effort to get such good results. Includes a lens hood but no tripod mount collar - hint: there are plenty of compatibles available for a fraction of the Canon accessory price. 18 August 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Brilliant lens I have had this lens for a month now and have got a lot of fantastic photo's with it. It is quick to focus and quiet too everything you would expect from a canon L series lens. It is a little on the heavy side but a lot lighter than the other L series zoom lenses. 20 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing lens When i went from an aps-c size camera to a full frame with the 5d i found the canon 70-200mm f4L IS lens i had a bit short in some situations. Having read some good reports on image quality from the 70-300f/4-5.6L IS i took the plunge and bought one. Well i must say the image quality i have had so far has been truly amazing. Smooth rotating zoom ring.Front extends out during zooming. Fast smooth focusing. Canon L quality build. A shorter length lens but bigger diameter and quite heavy so not for hanging round the neck for long periods. Some people might not like the zoom ring position at the end. Not cheap but i think you get what you pay for. Supplied with hood and storage pouch. Could have been supplied with a tripod collar though. Apart from that highly delighted. I now have a single lens that i take on a lot of my day trips out photographing birds, sport etc. 04 March 2014
