Product information

The Canon EOS 5D Mark III boasts a staggering 22.3 megapixel resolution and crisp Full HD 1080 video recording, enclosed within a super sleek, sturdy magnesium alloy body making it the perfect DSLR choice for the passionate professional or amateur photographer.

  • Capture high-quality images that are full of detail with a 22.3 megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 5+ image processor. Colours are bright but natural, and fine detail is preserved even in dark shadow areas and bright highlights.
  • The EOS 5D Mark III delivers superb picture quality whatever the lighting conditions. Keep shooting hand-held even after the sun goes down, thanks to an ISO 100–25,600 sensitivity range (extendable to ISO 102,400).
  • Focus quickly and accurately, even on off-centre subjects, with a 61 point wide-area autofocus system. 41 cross-type points (five of which are extra sensitive double-cross type) ensure highly accurate tracking of moving objects.
  • Keep up with the action at 6fps, recording up to 16,270 continuous JPEG images to a UDMA mode 7 card in a single burst.
  • Enjoy high quality Full HD video at 1080p resolution. Use manual controls and Canon’s comprehensive EF lens range to achieve cinematic visual effects.
  • Give your video footage the soundtrack it deserves. The EOS 5D Mark III records digital stereo sound at 48KHz and offers manual control over audio level. A standard 3.5mm mic socket enables the use of third-party microphones; a headphone socket permits audio monitoring while recording.
  • Begin your digital editing workflow before you arrive back home. Rate your images on a scale of one to five and compare two images simultaneously on screen. Use in-camera Raw processing to explore creative possibilities – such as black & white conversion and retrospective white balance.
  • A magnesium chassis provides strength and durability without adding weight. Weather sealing offers protection against dust and moisture.

Lenses & Cases
One of the biggest advantages of this camera is the sheer shooting flexibility on offer. You can use additional lenses to take wide-angle, telephoto, or close-up shots to suit just about any situation. The shorter the focal length (measured in mm), the wider the view will be – the longer the focal length, the more telescopic the picture. With a selection of interchangeable lenses at your disposal, the creative possibilities are endless. Click here to browse our selection.

Q & As

Rated 5 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Canon EOS 5D MK III Digital SLR Camera The camera lives up to the many good things written about it, having had the MK1 for many years the additional functions and focusing have encouraged me to look at my photography in a more techniical way and I am really enjoying the experience. Still getting to grips with the camera but all part of the fun. I am very pleased with the landscape photographs taken. 19 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Canon eos 5D mk3 Absolutely brilliant. Good quality build and photo quality is great 03 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by exactly as I hoped upgrading from a Canon Mk 11 I wasn't sure if it was worth the extra. but it's a really different camera with lots of new features to have fun with. with the familiar controls of Canon to reassure you. Excellent results at low light... 15 April 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by An excellent camera Shutter failure on my trusty EOS 1ds MKII forced a decision to buy the 5D MKIII as a replacement while repairs were in progress. I'm impressed with the incredible range of features this camera offers, from HDR shooting to customisable focus tracking, there is not much one can imagine needing that it doesn't have. I found it pretty easy to operate straight out of the box as there are full auto modes as well as the usual range of shooting priority modes. I particularly like the electronic framing grid in the viewfinder and the 'silent' shooting modes, very handy for discrete shooting. Image quality is excellent, the 22mp sensor offers a useful margin over my usual 16mp camera and the sensivity is simply remarkable. I shot some night street scenes at 12,000 iso and the results are superb with only moderate noise visible, far better than my 1ds. All in all I'm extremely impressed with the camera, great performance, good build quality, and relative to a full pro body which would cost double, it represents good value. Oh I forgot to mention I also bought the extra year warranty from JL which gives peace of mind at a bargain price! 24 June 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Piece of Kit! I did a fair amount of homework before I decided to invest in the 5D but have not been disappointed at all. The low light capability is excellent as I like to do sunrise, sunsets and the full frame sensor means I get the most out of my lenses. The AF takes a bit of getting use to but once you get the hang of it there is no looking back, another big plus point is the ISO noise which can mean you can get the shot ( just need to reduce the noise in post ). Bracketing, HDR and double exposure are great features too - I just can't stop experimenting :) I would like to stress that the real investment should be made in good glass first! 14 February 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by A new flagship for Canon's DSLR Lineup Having decided to spend on upgrading my EOS 5D Mk 2 to the new 5D Mk 3 I was fully expecting a considerable improvement across the board. I was not disappointed. The new sensor allows my baseline ISO to shift up from 320 on the old body, to 500 plus on the new for the same quality of image. Experimenting with the in camera HDR feature takes photography to a new level giving quality images under extreme lighting conditions. For new potential users of the 5D series - dont hesitate but if you already have an earlier version, this is worth the cost. 13 December 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Simply a Great Camera 3rd in the line of the formidable 5d series, and Canon has came up trumps. At first glance you can be forgiven for thinking the 5D mkiii is not a huge upgrade to the previous model yet its a very different beast. The full frame CMOS sensor offers market leading image quality (remember, its not the amount of megapixles, its how they are used) with an ISO sensitivity of 100-25,600 (expandable to ISO 102,400) means you can take photos in the most extreme of situations (from stunning sunny days to a black cat in a coal mine). A perfect camera for an upgrade from a 5D mk1 or an entry level SLR (XX0D series). A very well balanced and comfortable camera to hold. Top tip: If you are upgrading to a full frame camera for the first time, your lens's might not work. Only "EF" lens's will work with a full frame (not "EF-S"). Come in a speak to us if your not sure your lens's are compatible 09 August 2012
