Product information

The Canon EOS 6D boasts a staggering 20.2 megapixel resolution and crisp Full HD 1080p video recording. This is all enclosed in a super sleek, sturdy body making it the perfect DSLR for the passionate professional or amateur photographer. A suite of advanced including high-powered autofocus will even help you to create perfect shots time after time.

Key benefits:

  • At the heart of the EOS 6D is a 20.2 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor and a powerful DIGIC 5+ image processor. Together these deliver images that are packed with detail and clarity. Colours are reproduced accurately whilst tonal gradation is subtle and natural.
  • Enjoy access to wide-angle EF lenses and discover new approaches to landscape, interiors and street photography. The extra control over depth of field provided by the full-frame sensor is perfect for adding impact to your portraits.
  • When light levels get low, the EOS 6D keeps delivering superb photography. ISO sensitivity extends from ISO 100 up to ISO 25,600 (expandable to L:50, H1:51,200, H2:102,400) and an 11-point autofocus system is responsive down to -3EV. That’s sensitive enough to operate under moonlight.
  • Work intuitively with the EOS 6D’s bright full-frame viewfinder. A 1,040,000-dot 3-inch Clear View II LCD screen makes Live View shooting of stills and Full-HD video a pleasure.
  • Preserve detail in both highlights and shadows with the EOS 6D’s high dynamic range (HDR) shooting mode, and create composite images with its multiple-exposure facility. ±5 stop exposure compensation and ±3-stop auto exposure bracketing allow flexibility and fine tuning of exposure.
  • Built-in GPS determines your exact location and geotags each image file with the information. In GPS logger mode, a record of your route is recorded as you move around, even when the camera is switched off.
  • Shoot remotely from alternative viewpoints: connect and control your EOS 6D using your PC, Mac or smartphone. Images can be transferred wirelessly and shared with family and friends.
  • Shoot Full-HD video at 1080p resolution, taking advantage of fast-aperture lenses and full manual control to achieve cinematic effects.

Lenses & Cases
One of the biggest advantages of this camera is the sheer shooting flexibility on offer. You can use additional lenses to take wide-angle, telephoto, or close-up shots to suit just about any situation. The shorter the focal length (measured in mm), the wider the view will be – the longer the focal length, the more telescopic the picture. Q & As

Rated 4 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Great camera..poor service from John Lewis online Bought this camera online and was disappointed by service from John Lewis. Firstly no notification of delivery.. I had to prompt them to get this information. More significantly I was hoping to take advantage of offer linked to this camera. Good offer but no information on website or in the delivered order on how to redeem this offer. Store seemed to know how to process this offer however. Despite several calls and emails to John Lewis online team I am still none the wiser on how to get this offer. I am now taking this back to the shop and starting the purchase process all over to get the offer before it expires. Will think twice before ordering online again. 25 October 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Superb camera....a definite bargain I started with a 350D, the 40D, then a 5D mk1 and now a pair of 1Ds mk2's....i am now selling both after buying a 6D. Enough said. Grain free images, fast processor, AF is fantastic even in low light. Dont bother with a second hand 5D mk2, just get the 6D instead. Plus of course the 2 year warranty is a no brainer. Light but sturdy, fits well in the hand and doesnt feel odd even with a long zoom lens attached. 27 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Canon EOS 6D. I've recently acquired the Canon 6D, I was going to get the 5D mark two, or even mark three, but thought the 6D is more me. And I'm so glad that I did! I've used the 6D for all sorts of photographic scenarios, I've just shot an event here in Bristol with it, low light, fast moving subjects, the works. I've taken plenty of formal portraits and dabbled in Sunday league football games. (And of course everything in between!) I recommend this camera to anyone wanting good lowlight handling and a full frame sensor. 13 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Pin Sharp Images and Rich Colours I've had my 6D for about 6 months and I've used it for pretty much every photographic scenario. The images are fantastic, and the build quality superb and robust. It has never let me down and the battery lasts for about 900-1000 shots. I needed a second camera for portraits, landscape and architecture work and I knew this was the one. I was right. It represents excellent value for what you get. If you are unsure, just go for it and you will NOT be disappointed. 28 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by An incredible camera for serious photography I've owned a 6D for about 8 months, and it has produced the best photos I have ever taken. I love it. It produces amazing portraits, landscapes and street shots. Technically it is not as good as the 5D Mk3 for sports / fast photography, but I've found it to be entirely acceptable. As a full-frame DSLR with a very high quality sensor it competes with any SLR you can buy irrespective of price. I use an L-series (Canon's professional range) 28-105 most, and then a 40mm pancake lens, and in the latter case the pictures almost make me weep. Do your research, as this camera won't suit everyone. If you want toys and convenience and don't want to spend much on lenses, get a 70D or similar. If you want to focus on sports or bird photography then the 6D might not work for you. However, if you want to capture the people and places around you with clarity and control, then be assured this is an extraordinary piece of equipment. 21 February 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Problems!!! Iv'e had my first Canon 6D for just over 2 weeks and then it started randomly taking pictures by itself, really annoying when your trying to take product images and want to check the image but it will just keep taking pictures. I then took it back to John Lewis after contacting Canon about it and John Lewis were very helpful and swapped the unit for a brand new one, I have since had this one for about a week now and its started doing the same thing, I have again been on to Canon and they have no reported issue of what I'm experiencing. So now I'm stuck and wish I had the money for the 5D mark iii 04 February 2014
