It's surprising how much you can fit inside this compact design, with it measuring just 31cm across when closed, it then opens up to reveal 3 tiers and 5 spacious compartments, making it easy to find what you're looking for. You can use it to store threads, needles, thimbles - everything you need for your sewing task. Made from New Zealand pine.

Well Pleased Ordered online bank holiday monday 6th May received two days later. Whilst appeared to be a little expensive, looks very well made & robust. this is the first time I have ordered on line from John Lewis, & am very Impressed with the service 10 May 2013

Nice Xmas Present Saw box in John Lewis store in Cardiff, Just what my daughter had wanted, but did no want to carry around all day so came home and ordered on line. Excellent delivery and good quality box which went down well on Christmas morning. 03 January 2013

Has to be asembled This was purchased as a Christmas gift. It has to be assembled which is not an ideal Christmas day activity. Time will tell whether the DIY construction makes it better or worse. 27 December 2012

Sylish and practical Well constructed sewing box in wood which should last for years. Although described as small it is probably big enough for most needs. Looks good as well. 16 August 2012

Fit for Purpose Although not likely to be an antique of the future, this sewing box is a very significant improvement from an old tupperware container and keeps contents in order. Good value - would recommend. 14 August 2012

Nice, but could be improved Overall the box is lovely, and I am really pleased I bought it, after looking for a long time for the perfect box. It is the perfect size for my needs, with enough space for reels of cotton, sewing implements, as well as all the bits and bobs you accumulate over time. The box seems pretty sturdy, and it looks good, however the finishing lets it down. On looking closely the layers don't line up exactly and there was some glue on the lid. My main gripe is with the bottoms of the layers. They look very cheap and really let the product down. I know it is on the inside, but this product is something that I want to feel happy using, so I really think that it is a shame that corners are cut with things like this. I have got over this by putting some drawer-liner paper in, and this has vastly improved the appearance - makes me wonder why this hadn't been done by the manufacturer. 23 July 2012

Solid, Well Built, Traditional and Attractive What more could you want all my sewing friends are green eyed with envy! It's very well built and in no way "small". I wouldn't use this porting stuff about (except from one room to the other) as its rather weighty due to it's solid construction. The cantilever is well balances so doesn't tip up even though mine is still pretty empty, even when one side only is opened. The only improvement for myself would be to add movable divided to divide the trays but I guess I can purchase these to fit. 30 April 2012

Good Product, really useful, quick efficient service, but quality of finishing a bit of a let down I purchased this item as a christmas present via mail order and the design and style of the sewing box was exactly as I wanted and the choice of the smaller size was also good. The delivery service was efficient. However one small moan was that the wood used for the top lid on one side was marked with a natural but slightly ugly blemish and this section of wood should have in my opinion been used elsewhere on the side or better still on the underside. There was not time to exchange prior to christmas and the receipient enjoyed the present, however if I was choosing in a store, this would have been the last one I would have picked. 25 February 2012
