Q & As

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good writing Pen has a good quality feel about it and writes smoothly, however if you post the cap on the back of the pen when writing it does not stay on which can be annoying 02 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Beautiful and a pleasure to write with as it flows so smoothly. I bought this because I wanted to stop using pens and refills which end up in landfill, and Cross pens have a reputation for durability. This pen has a lovely flow, and is a real pleasure to use. I write just to feel it writing. It appears to be very well made, finely engineered and well designed for mess-free economical use. To use ink instead of cartridges I bought the converter. It draws up the ink efficiently, and there are no leaks or spills. The pen is well balanced in the hand and could be good for training young hands to achieve sustained writing without strain, as it needs a less upright position than a gel pen, and needs less grip. The lacquer finish has a substantial, expensive feel and when I dropped it on a rough 'hospital' floor, it didn't scratch. The nib has enough flex to respond stylishly to pressure, and not to scratch (You can of course buy different nibs from Cross, if you have a type you prefer). NB though: When the top is off and you stash it on the end of the pen while you write, it is not rough inside so it is possible to make it slip off. (The top has enough weight for you to notice this and not lose it). John Lewis staff advised me to use the same brand ink as the pen you buy, as the brand's testing is done on that ink. So I bought a bottle of Crown ink, and they estimate that would last a year. That is a lot cheaper than buying gel pens for a year. Cross give a lifetime guarantee. 11 November 2013
