Cuisinart CPK17U Multi-Temperature Kettle, Silver

Product information

Incredibly stylish and easy to use this Cuisinart multi-temperature kettle offers you multiple brewing options at the touch of a button. Easy to use manual controls give a choice of temperature options, ideal for speciality teas and coffees. Choose between 85°C and 100°C in 5°C increments, for the perfect cup of tea or coffee. Achieving the correct water brewing temperature is essential for optimum flavour extraction of teas and coffees. Brewing temperatures for green tea and black tea vary considerably. Green tea will not maintain its flavour or therapeutic properties if the water is too hot and black tea will never reach its peak if the water is not hot enough.

A concealed 3kW element ensures rapid boiling, allowing you to get your desired temperature quickly and efficiently. An automatic eco feature turns the kettle to stand-by when not in use. A large 1.7L capacity allows you to cater for a number of guests with ease. A large spout provides safe easy pouring and an illuminated water window allows for easy viewing of the fill level. An easy clean, removable filter improves the quality and taste of your drinks and integral cord storage tops off this model.

Q & As

Rated 4 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Perfect for my tea collection This is the kettle for you if you need water boiling to a certain temperature. The little LED display shows the water temperature raising as it boils 85 or 100 degree. I can take it off at 70 if I should wish to which is helpful when brewing some more delicate tea leaves. It doesn't take up too much room as I reviewed order temperature kettles whos bases would not be ideal on my worktop. Space is already at a premium. The kettle has a blue light and beeps once its reached the required boil. It feels good quality and it boils very quickly. So far so good. 16 March 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Stylish but proved very disappointing I am very disappointed with this kettle. I can accept that it is noisy and has a superfluous 100-deg button in addition to the default 100-deg on button. I don't have an issue with the LEDs being on all the time either - in fact I like that but those with eco concerns who don't like the LEDs being on might be more concerned with the age the 3kw kettle takes to switch off once water is boiling at (100-deg). Sadly those issues aside the one big problem for me is that less than 3-months use and the lid no longer springs open. After an unsatisfactory response from Cuisinart, John Lewis customer service were excellent and we have upgraded to a different ‘premium’ kettle. 20 February 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Cant fault it Bought this kettle a few months ago after doing quite a lot of research. Was quite surprised at the amount of negative comments on may of the kettles I looked at, including some pricier models. Cuisinart was not a name I was familiar with but I liked the look of it as well as the extra functions. The main grievance seemed to be the blue light, which I actually liked, so I went with this model. After using it for a few months now, I have to say I love it ! We use the 85 degree button for coffee and green tea and 100 degrees for normal tea. The kettle is easy to fill, using the open button and the blue light looks great. Only slight drawback is that the outside does get hot, but you soon get used to that. Not had any problems whatsoever and would recommend it to anyone. 08 February 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by GREAT !!!! Great kettle i love the temperature change on the handle, most other ones are on the base making them large and unsightly, this is a lovely looking smart looking easy to use kettle. two temperatures the 85% is great for coffee and 100% for everything else i cant recommend this kettle enough even beeps when boiled luv it !!!! 20 January 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't buy this kettle! Bought the first one from John Lewis, delivered thru Waitrose, some months ago as my daughter had one and it seemed good. After a couple of months it started switching itself off at random temperatures while heating up. After a few weeks of this I phoned up and was offered a replacement. Changed it for another the same model, and after about 6 weeks the same thing kept happening. Changed it for a third one, and during the first week of using it it has started the same malfunction!!! What is wrong with your kettle Cuisinart/John Lewis?? 14 January 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good but not perfect Bought this having researched premium products to replace our well loved Magimix double walled kettle, which has given great service. We would have bought another had it not been for poor reviews around lids breaking. The Cusinart kettle feels good quality when you pick it up, it boils quickly and it is fairly quiet. However, you do have to switch off at the mains to turn off the blue light in the switch and water level indicator. Not a massive issue, but why can't it be designed to switch off automatically when boiled or a couple of minutes afterwards? Secondly, it bleeps five times when boiled, which is unnecessary. One, two or even no bleeps would suffice. The above wouldn't have stopped me giving 5 stars, however. What has is the brushed stainless finish. It is not perfectly finished and depending on how the light catches it, there is an uneven finish to the the side walls, which slightly irritates me every time I look at it. We like it, but it could be even better. 09 January 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good idea, too many buttons I like that I can heat the water to a temperature I want, but whoever designed the buttons needs to find a new job! They've used four buttons, on/off, 85, 100 and +. The 100 button is completely redundant, it goes to 100 if you just switch it on without setting anything. The 85 button is a bit unnecessary too if the + button was replaced with something that just cycles through the four temperature options. So you really only need two buttons, an on/off switch and a button to select the temperature. Where do I send my consultancy invoice please? 27 November 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Not overly impressed! My husband bought this kettle. Loves a gadget!! I find it rather noisy, both with the noise whilst it boils and all the beeping .... why is that necessary, especially at the beginning?? The blue light is, I suppose, nice, but would prefer if it was on only while the kettle was on, not constantly. So, would HE buy the kettle again? Yes, he likes the various temperature controls. ME? No, would prefer a quieter more straightforward kettle. Sturdy make though and I assume it will last a good while (maybe not such a good thing in this case!!). 16 November 2014
