Cuisinart CPK17U Multi-Temperature Kettle, Silver

Product information

Incredibly stylish and easy to use this Cuisinart multi-temperature kettle offers you multiple brewing options at the touch of a button. Easy to use manual controls give a choice of temperature options, ideal for speciality teas and coffees. Choose between 85°C and 100°C in 5°C increments, for the perfect cup of tea or coffee. Achieving the correct water brewing temperature is essential for optimum flavour extraction of teas and coffees. Brewing temperatures for green tea and black tea vary considerably. Green tea will not maintain its flavour or therapeutic properties if the water is too hot and black tea will never reach its peak if the water is not hot enough.

A concealed 3kW element ensures rapid boiling, allowing you to get your desired temperature quickly and efficiently. An automatic eco feature turns the kettle to stand-by when not in use. A large 1.7L capacity allows you to cater for a number of guests with ease. A large spout provides safe easy pouring and an illuminated water window allows for easy viewing of the fill level. An easy clean, removable filter improves the quality and taste of your drinks and integral cord storage tops off this model.

Don't buy this kettle! Bought the first one from John Lewis, delivered thru Waitrose, some months ago as my daughter had one and it seemed good. After a couple of months it started switching itself off at random temperatures while heating up. After a few weeks of this I phoned up and was offered a replacement. Changed it for another the same model, and after about 6 weeks the same thing kept happening. Changed it for a third one, and during the first week of using it it has started the same malfunction!!! What is wrong with your kettle Cuisinart/John Lewis?? 14 January 2015
Good but not perfect Bought this having researched premium products to replace our well loved Magimix double walled kettle, which has given great service. We would have bought another had it not been for poor reviews around lids breaking. The Cusinart kettle feels good quality when you pick it up, it boils quickly and it is fairly quiet. However, you do have to switch off at the mains to turn off the blue light in the switch and water level indicator. Not a massive issue, but why can't it be designed to switch off automatically when boiled or a couple of minutes afterwards? Secondly, it bleeps five times when boiled, which is unnecessary. One, two or even no bleeps would suffice. The above wouldn't have stopped me giving 5 stars, however. What has is the brushed stainless finish. It is not perfectly finished and depending on how the light catches it, there is an uneven finish to the the side walls, which slightly irritates me every time I look at it. We like it, but it could be even better. 09 January 2015
Good idea, too many buttons I like that I can heat the water to a temperature I want, but whoever designed the buttons needs to find a new job! They've used four buttons, on/off, 85, 100 and +. The 100 button is completely redundant, it goes to 100 if you just switch it on without setting anything. The 85 button is a bit unnecessary too if the + button was replaced with something that just cycles through the four temperature options. So you really only need two buttons, an on/off switch and a button to select the temperature. Where do I send my consultancy invoice please? 27 November 2014
Not overly impressed! My husband bought this kettle. Loves a gadget!! I find it rather noisy, both with the noise whilst it boils and all the beeping .... why is that necessary, especially at the beginning?? The blue light is, I suppose, nice, but would prefer if it was on only while the kettle was on, not constantly. So, would HE buy the kettle again? Yes, he likes the various temperature controls. ME? No, would prefer a quieter more straightforward kettle. Sturdy make though and I assume it will last a good while (maybe not such a good thing in this case!!). 16 November 2014
Excellent I bought one of these kettles six months ago and to date it has been excellent in every way, and better than any previous kettle I've purchased. One of its unusual features is that, despite the hard water, it hasn't developed unsightly limescale around the edge of the lid - the outcome of good design. 22 October 2014
Serious electrical malfunction!! When I bought this kettle just a few weeks ago I was thrilled with it and would have happily recommended it. However, it developed a serious malfunction a couple of weeks ago which resulted in black smoke pouring from the base of the kettle - and very worryingly, this was whilst it was in standby mode about 30 minutes after I'd made a cup of tea. Fortunately we have an effective fusebox which quickly cut the circuit before any damage could occur to our kitchen -- and fortunately I was at home so could throw open all the windows to clear the acrid black smoke. I have no idea how this can have happened and I certainly will not be replacing the ruined product with the same model! 14 August 2014
Good quality kettle I bought this a few months ago and it has proved a very good buy. This is a solid kettle, it seems very well made but a potential downside is that this makes it a heavy object when it's half-full or more. Whilst it doesn't pick up huge amounts of finger smudges like a polished steel kettle would, in our hard water area, it still needs a bit of cleaning occasionally. Without doubt the best thing about this kettle is the ability to heat water to 85 degrees. As an avid (fresh and instant) coffee drinker, I wanted something that would give me a decent chance at good instant coffee. I did a fair bit of research on this before deciding on the Cuisinart and I haven't been disappointed. The 3 year manufacturers guarantee also helps inspire confidence. Recommended. 12 August 2014
