Cuisinart SSB1U Soup Maker

Product information

For soup lovers everywhere, the Cuisinart SSB1U soup maker will create your favourite flavour combinations at the touch of a button. Simply add your fresh ingredients and some stock and let this soup maker do the rest.

Unlike a traditional blender, the SSB1U has a rapid heating element and non-stick cooking plate that browns vegetables, boils liquids and simmers soups. Add to this the stainless steel blades and powerful motor, and you have a worktop appliance that’s capable of blending the hot soup or sauce to your preferred consistency, straight after cooking.

You can add ingredients as you go - starting off by softening onions on the heating plate for example - before blending, and it’s possible to make certain recipes in less than 20 minutes. When not being used to produce delicious mouth-watering soups, the SSB1U can also crush ice for a cool cocktail or make nutritious smoothies.

Q & As

Cuisinart SSB1U Soup Maker 4.3 5 66 66
A leaky soup maker Looked forward to using this product as I had read good reviews, but unfortunately when the stock was added, the unit started to leak quickly from where the glass meets the plastic base. Put off from re-ordering. 12 February 2014
generally well made product This is a large, tall and heavy soup maker. It is quite easy to use and makes nice soup in about 20 minutes. The jug is made of glass and is heavy, especially with the attached base. I found that immediate washing of the jug is preferable to doing it later as the soup residue can dry quickly making the jug more difficult to clean I use some hot water and a drop of washing up liquid in the jug and put the blender on setting 1 or 2 to clean the jug. Then I rinse with fresh water. The blender blades are very sharp so I dont put my fingers in the jug to clean it. A word of warning- please hold the lid of the soup blender down if using the 'pulse' mode - I didn't and I had boiling hot soup all over my hand and all over the kitchen when the lid shot off. I really think Dualit should have a locking lid on this device.I guess you could also make soup quickly on the hob and then use a separate blender but as an all-in-one device the Dualit can be recommended. If you have weak or arthritic wrists/hands check that you can lift the jug safely. 04 February 2014
Really useful product My husband is the soup maker in this house, he loves it his machine,so do as it saves me coming home to a really messy cooker. Hooray 04 February 2014
super soup only one niggle about the Cuisinar.,Bits of food can get under the collar at the bottom of the jug, not good . 23 January 2014
Pleased overall Had my soup maker a few days, made a lovely red pepper soup and a wonderful Rogan Josh paste for a lamb curry but I have had it soaking overnight and despite scrubbing with various sized brushes the plate is still not clean. It is not at all clear if you can unscrew the glass jar or not. I will try and get more information from Cuisinart. 16 January 2014
soup maker bought as a present - disappointed that you have significantly reduced the price since Christmas. Very pleased to have been able to Click and Collect from Alton. 15 January 2014
I like this very much I was given this as a Christmas present and I am very pleased with it. I have made soup several times, both from the recipe book provided and from my own recipes and each time it has produced delicious soup. As yet I have not used it for sauces or smoothies etc, but I am sure it will be excellent for that as well. However there are two things which are preventing me from giving this 5 stars. I would advise not to use the 'pulse' button as it is very powerful. When I tried it the hot soup flew up like a volcano, even though the soup level was just below the maximum marking on the jug. It overflowed through the vents in the lid and there was soup everywhere, all over the counter top and a nearby cupboard and on the floor. It also flowed down the side of the jug, and some was trapped between the jug and the base. I managed to get it out eventually with a tiny brush. I have heard that some people are able to unscrew the jug from the base for easy cleaning. This is my other complaint, there is no way this jug will unscrew from the base. I have tried it and my husband and my son also. This is a pity as if it unscrewed it would make cleaning much easier. 12 January 2014
