De'Longhi DES12 Compact Dehumidifier

Product information

The neat De'Longhi DES12 dehumidifier is designed to remove moisture and damp from homes, and can also be used to dry clothes. With its pull-up handle, it’s easy to move around the house too.

It has a 3-litre tank with level indicator, with the Tank Control System automatically stopping extraction when the tank is full. There’s a humidistat for setting the desired level, plus an electronic ant-frost device that works down to 2ºC.

The double condenser elimination system gives the option of discharging the removed moisture directly into the tank, or continuously through a 2m pipe (included). Finally, thanks to the Bio Silver Tech system, the air the DES12 blows back into the room will always be thoroughly filtered.

Q & As

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 83 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by superb dehumidifier Recently bought this dehumidifier and must say we have been very impressed so far. It is quiet, easy to use and compact that it fits into our thin hall easily and other rooms without being noticed. It has a large enough water container that you can leave it on for hours and not worry it will over fill. Money well spent and the home has stopped smelling of damp from the condensation that was present before we bought it. Very impressed. 03 March 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Impressed, now have one upstairs & one downstairs. Really pleased with my purchase; great service from JL as always. Easy to set up & manoeuvre around due to rollers and fold-flat handle. Very quiet when running. One very minor comment would be that you have to be slightly careful how you re-insert the container - a misalignment can cause a tiny puddle on the floor. Only happened once though. Fully recommended to other potential buyers. 17 February 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 Exceeded expectations This is a great piece of kit, removes the moisture out of the air efficiently and quickly. I use it for the bathroom after a shower when I can't keep the window open all night and helps prevent mold. Also works wonders for air drying clothes. 09 December 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by AVERAGE PRODUCT Bought it recently, not enough water collection & now emits a funny smell, no filter cleaning instructions? 27 November 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by very efficient machine for a small house with damp We have recently bought a country cottage and redecorating was proving difficult as the building had been neglected and without heat for some time. This meant a lot of overnight condensation and paint too wet to re-coat the next day. Our decorator recommended we buy or hire a dehumidifier. From the outset this little machine did a superb job of removing moisture over night allowing the decorating to proceed more quickly and efficiently. I have no doubt it paid for itself very quickly. It has the additional advantage of a clothes drying setting that may well come in useful in a holiday cottage. My only small quibble and hence 4 not 5 stars is that it comes with a tube to allow - presumably - for continuous emptying into a larger container or drain but no adaptor to connect the tube to the main body of the machine. I guess it is just pushed in but given that it is a soft tube I would be worried leaving it without being able to check that it hadn't come adrift and was flooding the floor. To be fair though I haven't yet checked this out. Some models are supplied with a continuous emptying adaptor apparently. I have yet to find out if one can be purchased for this model. Nevertheless it has done what was required for us and is otherwise an excellent damp dehumidifier. 13 November 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Isn't doing the job its supposed to do.. I initially intended purchasing the Meaco dehumidifier, after reading all the reviews, unfortunately, this was out of stock, so I purchased this slightly more expensive model, but felt reassured by the better known brand name. This is my 3rd dehumidifier, so I am aware of what to expect performance wise and how to use them. After moving from a 4 bedroom house to a small cottage, I decided the smaller model would be sufficient. Its been placed in different rooms, with the doors closed, as I know its works with the humidity within each room. Sadly, even by the end of the day, there is still water on the insides of the windows and very little water in the bottom of the tank. I have persevered for about a month now and have resorted to opening the windows instead of using the machine, which is a shame, as the weather is now so much colder and my last dehumidifier released warm air back into the room. 05 November 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by A very disappointing experience overall When received delivery of this item the tray on the left came broken whereby the plastic had cracked through. Fortunately pick up and replacement was arranged, however, the replacement for some reason came with the base of the cardboard box missing so that the styrofoam at the bottom was serving as the floor, which was a foreboding sign. The replacement item I have only functions when the dial is pointing at 'max' - if I turn the dial down to 'med' or 'min' it simply turns off altogether. If I place the dial on 'min' or 'med' from the start it would make the buzzing noise for a few minute and seem to function but still come to a halt shortly thereafter. I'm assuming that this is not normal since if it only works continuously on 'max' level then there would be little point in having the 'min' and 'med' level. Now I'm too fed up to deal with the hassle of having the item picked up and still receiving problematic item and would prefer a straightforward refund please. 20 October 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great for drying clothes I had got sick of hanging damp clothes in the bathroom for days on end, so I installed one of these in a cupboard, replaced the shelves with horizontal rods and got myself an airing cupboard. Now a machine load of washing is bone dry in about 3 hours. I'd hoped that the humidistat would cut out once the washing was dry but if I don't have it set to full it doesn't quite do it; that's my only disappointment. Otherwise, very happy. 18 September 2014
