De'Longhi ETAM36.365 Prima Donna XS Bean-to-Cup Coffee Machine
Best coffee from a machine after ages !
Bought this machine after seeing it being demonstrated in a john lewis store. The ease and simpleness of the machine is great.. I bought it because of its compactness and sleek look. Easy to fit into my kitchen. The metal finish is quick to clean. Machine produces really quality cafe latte's, cappuccino's, latte machiato's.. automatically and just gets on with it. Milk carafe i put in the dishwasher and pop it in the fridge after use. The beans that are grinded it drops into the grounds container after a coffee is made I use this in my garden as extra compost ! ha . I checked my statistics and I have made over a 100 coffees so far. I haven't even had to descale it once.. I cant really find many Cons with the machine. Maybe the sensitivity of the machine is a bit too easy. But in terms of child friendliness its great. If the milk carafe or the hot water tap attachment isnt on the machine will not work... Other than that the machine is a great buy !!

I want share the experience of having this amazing coffee machine. We had a gaggia bean to cup for donkey years before it gave up just before christmas last year. It was a very good coffee machine and made amazing coffees. So we were looking to buy another bean to cup coffee machine. As we could not find a gaggia again we went for this Delonghi machine. we bought this december last year from john lewis in oxford street and it makes even better coffee than our old machine with very very low maintenance.
I read the reviews of other people not happy , but I have to say that it is very important to read the instruction manual, otherwise it all goes wrong and you will start hating the machine.
its sleek and slim which fits in our kitchen nicely and makes amazing coffee.
we will highly recommend this product and also recommend to download the delonghi app if you ever buy a machine or looking to buy a machine.

Tested us to the limits
This machine has been back for repair twice in 3 months. It has always behaved randomly, throwing up messages that were clearly nonsense. Obtaining accessories from the de Longhi website is challenging. Once you've found the obscure web fulfilment site, you will normally find that descaler (essential) and water filters are out of stock. Never again.

This machine takes a while to set, I recommend that you follow the instructions to the letter.
Once set up it is all what I expected, the only problem I have found is that the milk is not as hot as I would like. I have found the solution to this is heating the glass or cup first if making the Latte but not with the cup warmer but from the kettle. I have used the milk only when making hot chocolate and even when heating the glass the milk is not hot enough so I have not solution to this problem as the water temperature can be altered but not the milk. If Delonghi know the answer I would be grateful to a reply. All in all though makes as good a cup of coffee as the better coffee shops.

Great Coffee but Not hot Enough
Had this machine for a couple of weeks now, and I have to say I like the coffee it makes. I only use the black and Latte options and, so far, the coffee tastes good and I've had no significant problems with the machine.
My only complaint is the temperature of the coffee. No matter whether you preheat everything, you still end up with a lukewarm cup of coffee. Milky coffee barely gets to 50 deg F and black struggles to get much above 60 F. My work around is to put the cup of coffee in the microwave for 30 seconds which gives me coffee at a temperature I like without being hot enough to spoil the coffee.
You get nowhere with Delonghi when you contact them about this. All they tell you is it's supposed to be that way. In fact nobody I've spoken to at Delonghi will even admit they have had any complaints at all about the temperature of the coffee, when I know for a fact that several other people have formally complained about this.
So if you can put up with the poor temperature and do your own thing to get it a bit warmer, this is a good coffee maker.
It's quite small so doesn't take up too much room. The penalty for this is you have to refill the water and bean hopper quite often as they don't hold a lot.
The steam wand is quite short, so you need quite a small milk jug if you are just making a single coffee and you want to avoid wasting milk in a larger jug. Not had a lot of practice with the wand, but it does seem to do a good job.
I prefer the coffee made with beans to that which you get from pre ground coffee. I compared the same brand of beans and ground and the beans really did taste much better.
I would like to have given this machine more stars, but I just can't do that in light of the temperature thing, which is made worse by the very poor attitude I got from Delonghi when I contacted them to ask for help.

two failures in one month
The first purchase of this product had to be replaced within two weeks. Why? A list of erratic behaviour too long to detail eg cappuchino mode delivered steam and a fraction of the Standard milk. the latte mode emptied the milk container without stopping, the ground coffee mode delivered the coffee as powder straight into the waste container, Disply screne asked for Descale after a few days when water here is neutral. Brilliant service from John Lewis to replace. Second machine failed dangerously before the month was out. We went out for a few hours and on return the machine had unbelievably switched it self on, emptied the water container onto the bench and kitchen floor, it had ground £3 off Italian coffee beans into a powder and filled the inside and after 24 hours the smell of burning plastic still pervades the house. This product is worse than poor, it is dangerous. No quibble refund by John Lewis.
