Q & As

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Recommended Having had a few coffee machines this is a welcome change; compact, delivers a quality product every time, easy to clean/look after and the foamer is first class. We were initially worried about the small foot print but after having had this for 4 weeks now you don't sacrifice space for quality. The water holder is easily accessed from the rear and is large enough that you can forgot about it (well, almost!) - plus it can be lifted out then moved horizontally left or right, so its ideal for small spaces or on work tops where there would be cupboards above. The instruction manual is short but easily accessible, the attachments are of good quality and it comes with a single descaler packet for when you need it. The product is customisable through an easy settings process for temperature, water hardness or (the very useful) standby timer. You can also vary the amount of coffee provided per single or double cup but we haven't used this yet. Finally, the cup heater (on top) is a bit of a gimmick and we haven't used it. Definitely recommend, good product. 12 June 2015

Rated 2 out of 5 by 2nd part of my previous Yellowshark post Yes it makes great coffee but.. In order to achieve this I had to do two things. Firstly, grinding my own beans with a De’Longhi grinder, I changed the grind setting from 10 to the maximum fineness setting of 12. Because to get a good espresso I had to tamp the coffee down so hard – and I mean HARD. If I had done this with my outgoing De’Longhi it probably would have dispensed a single drip every two or three seconds. Of course you may not want your espresso as strong as I like mine, but I guess if you did not then you would probably be drinking instant coffee. The end result is great, with the coffee flowing at the rate I would expect it to, but an irritating process. So 2.5 rounded down to 2 I am afraid. Why not return it? Well I cannot be bothered with the hassle and the red colour matches my red Tassimo machine :) 29 May 2015

Rated 4 out of 5 by A Good Machine - so far This was a replacement Delonghi for a machine we had from them which needed repairing twice so we were worried about another machine from the same manufacturer. So far it has been a great, smaller and more robust than the previous unit, this one makes good coffee and froths the milk well. The drip tray and water container are robust and easy to access - The puck is aluminium whereas the old machine we had used a brass puck which felt better however most machines in this price bracket provide aluminium versions only. I guess time will tell - will this one let us down like the previous Delonghi? - I hope not. 08 April 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent coffee, simply made! We bought the EC680 to replace an earlier De Longhi model. This one is really simple to use, has a small footprint and makes excellent coffee. Only negative is that it doesn't really heat the cups if you put them on top but you can take hot water from the machine to do this. 24 March 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good, but... Only had this for a week but the Dedica has a solid look and feel about it. We've been pleased with the results overall, apart from some niggles which become apparent once in use. 1. I can't make another coffee straight away after using the frother/steamer. Our machine flashes up the 1 and 2 shot buttons continually (a check with the manual says this is either the water heating up or the boiler needs cooling down - and all after only one espresso!). After watching the lights for over two minutes we realised it was an over-heated boiler. The manual states that you need to run hot water through the steam pipe. This action cools down the boiler so you can proceed with pulling another shot of coffee. This I'm not impressed with, especially because by switching the machine off and on again you can pull a shot without the boiler cooldown procedure - That's just nuts surely! 2. The steamer really just seems to froth, so getting a thick milk for a latte is an art which is beyond me, but then that could be just user error rather than the machine itself - but something to consider. 3. Others have voiced concerns with regard to not being able to close the filter handle enough to reach the closed mark. I've found I didn't need to, as long as it was tight and toward the marked arrow it worked fine and didn't leak at all. Can't say this would be the case for ground coffee though - not having tried any in it yet. 22 February 2015
