Q & As

DeLonghi ECOV310 Vintage Icona Espresso Coffee Machine 3.6 5 10 10
Makes great coffee I love the look of this machine. The one down side is that it isn't easy to tighten the coffee holder as machine tends to move and I find myself holding onto the frother knob to stable it. 16 December 2014
Makes excellent coffee - while it lasts. This is my third of these. The first two died young but the coffee was so good ... better than in the Gaggia Classic I had before. This time I've bought the extra 3 years cover and, to ensure I comply with the makers' instructions to clean it every 200 cups, I've attached a cheap knitter's row-counter to the machine. And although I live in a soft-water area I use filtered water. On the new machine, the hole in the end of the inner steam nozzle is bigger than on the previous one, which I've kept because it makes a stiffer foam of the milk. (I find dried skimmed milk gives a really firm froth when lightly whisked in water and heated to 60C; Gaggia sell a useful thermometer for a few pounds.) For freshness, I grind my own beans in a Spong hand mill, but any good-quality espresso-ground coffee makes equally perfect espresso or cappucino in this machine. 05 October 2014
Disappointed Recently bought the kettle and toaster so have added the coffee machine. Very disappointed. Even following instructions coffee not very hot and using a dark roast coffee tasted like warm milky water. Have returned to store and gone back to the Bialetti on the hob type which makes an excellent espresso. Shame, it looks really good. 21 September 2014
Stylish, with character Well, we already had the kettle and toaster, so it was an easy purchase just based on its looks. I was a bit worried that the ESE pods would be hard to come by, but easily available, in quite a variety, on the internet. As per other reviews; yes it's quite rattly - no creeping down for a quiet midnight espresso, but I quite like the fact that you know it's churning away. Generally don't use the frother, but heat milk in microwave to create lattes. There may be easier ways of making nice coffee, and it may not be for the connoisseur, but we love the looks and fun of this machine. 06 August 2014
Most beautiful item in my kitchen! Gorgeous looks, we have the green and it's beautiful. The space for coffee cups is small but we use a white milk jug and pour into larger coffee cups once the drink is made. The functions are great and it's nice and quiet as it keeps the water heated, just the odd steamy noise to let you know it's still switched on! Simple to use and nice and compact. Look were the reason we bought this but w'ere really happy with the machine. For two of us its perfect, any more of us and we might need a different machine that'd make more drinks faster, without a Barister having to stand at the machine! 17 June 2014
Great coffee. Really good little coffee maker. Makes a great cup and looks good. The milk frother is very effective as well 10 June 2014
Noisy, Impractical and Slow There is no space for anything larger than an espresso cup to fit under the spout. The lid to the water container and the cover for the overspill container are not lined with rubber and do not clip in place once closed. This means that when this cacophonous machine rattles into action the sound is something akin to roadworks being done outside the kitchen window. However, it is pretty. 06 May 2014
Trendy and worth the money! Bought this as a gift for my partner for Christmas as he is a Coffee Addict! We had an older model Delonghi so I figured this machine would impress. It's stylish and sturdy and works well. I have noticed the coffee sometimes won't filter through the portafilter piece evenly and when you are actually filtering the coffee the machine will vibrate shaking the water tank lid which is noisy, but, apart from that a great machine and well worth the money. 09 January 2014
