Devon Duvets British Wool Mattress Toppers
An expensive experiment
I had to dispose of my king-sized topper because I found the smell so offensive. It was like sleeping in a farmyard. I tried airing it outside, which seemed to work at first, but when I brought it back indoors more sheep smell made its way out from the stuffing. My son has a single one for uni, and he says the filling has gone lumpy after only 2 months.
I recommend you open the box and take a deep sniff before buying.

Beautiful, comfortable and natural
This is such a comfortable topper, no lumps and doesn't feel like you're laying on a duvet (like some other toppers feel like). Really nice to know where the product comes from too!

Comfortable and warm
I bought this to add some extra comfort to our mattress after sleeping in a hotel bed that had a micro fibre topper fitted. Not being a fan of the man made fibres, I opted for the wool one. This is lovely to sleep on and feels to warm the bed up quickly too, so much so, I have removed my electric blanket for the time being and will try and live without it. I also bought the heavier weight duvet and standard pillow. Both are really nice.

I chose this because I have had real difficulty sleeping recently due to an old, but still pretty much perfect, firmish latex mattress just seeming harder as I'm getting older. I was tossing and turning all night and waking up with neck and shoulder pain every morning. There's nothing wrong with the mattress so looked at mattress toppers. I read all the reviews carefully first. I chose the Devon wool version because while I thought it might not be quite as good as feather/goose down types from a sink-in comfort point of view, I just couldn't bring myself to buy those from an animal welfare point of view, so it was a no-brainer for me and this was the obvious choice. I'm thrilled with it. It isn't sink-inable comfort, more a soft but still firmish comfort that's supportive but incredible cosy too. It's absolutely excellent from a body temperature regulation too, and really contributes to a good night's sleep. I've used it for about a week and haven't had any shoulder or neck pain since. It was a good fit, doesn't move about on the bed at all and I didn't recognise one of the reviewer's criticisms that it had uncomfortable seams - this wasn't my experience at all. Although my cats could clearly smell something at first, I don't notice any sheep type smell at all. I'm thrilled with it and immediately ordered the duvet and will leave a separate review for that. My only criticism is that I have just discovered this company do an organic version - please stock it John Lewis. I would have paid the extra for it.

lovely product but NOT washable
I chose this mattress topper as a gift for my daughter to give her some home comforts at university. I didn't want to buy a synthetic topper so chose this wool one rather than any of the feather toppers purely because according to the JL website it was washable at 30 degrees. I was therefore horrified to see on the product label that "spot cleaning only" is advised and the product is definitely NOT washable. I am very disappointed because it was expensive and although it is a lovely product, if you think your mattress topper is likely to need washing, this is NOT the one to buy.

We selected several mattress toppers to try and ameliorate the ultra-firmness of our new mattress. This has done the job perfectly and I am really pleased - finally I am sleeping soundly again! Some reviewers have commented on the wool smell. This is barely noticeable but I actually find it very soothing - there is a faint scent of the outdoors instead of something synthetic and I think this may be contributing to my sound sleep!

Had this topper for some months now. It has definitely added an extra layer of comfort to the mattress and I am pleased we bought it especially so because it helps wick moisture away and improves temperature regulation. Gets four stars and not five because ours does not seem so well filled as the one in the photo.

Another wonderful wool product by Devon Duvets
I completely concur with the previous review. I have both of the wool duvets by this company which have transformed my sleeping, so saved up for this topper to complete my wool experience! I have NOT been disappointed. I have a good, new mattress on a solid base, which did sometimes get me overly hot in the night. This topper, whilst perhaps not quite as thick as in the photo, has added just another wonderfully comfortable layer to the bed. It is held tautly in place by the bands so I have found no wrinkling problems as another review described and it miraculously seems to regulate my body temperature so I no longer wake in the night feeling my back is on fire! Absolutely delighted with purchase, despite hefty price tag - but it is ALL natural, unlike other products, and just gets on and does its job, making getting out of bed in the morning even harder!
