Devon Duvets Wool Duvets, Medium Weight 600g
What can I say? Its passed the toughest test with my mother who is nearly 90. Instead of layers of blankets, including electric blanket, she now has one wool duvet over her, and stays comfortably warm. Weight was an important consideration, as even a down duvet is too heavy to push around if you are 90 and frail. I took a gamble in ordering this online, that the duvet would be lightweight enough. So pleased I was right - the wool is incredible - very thin, light weight, yet a powerful insulator. Its a bonus to know that the product is made in this country from happy sheep.

Yes this is really good but...
I read the reviews for this product and decided to buy. It is really warm, substantial but not too heavy, and yes it does make a crackly sound when you first take it out of the packaging, but be aware if you are 'hot bodies' like me and my partner. The 'medium' duvet is incredibly efficient at keeping you warm and if you are prone to over-heating, your room can end up smelling a bit woolly! It's nothing that a good airing can't fix, but feel we will now have to invest in the light weight version and keep the medium weight until it's really chilly.

Wonderful product, but laundering is a challenge
I bought this duvet in November 2010 (along with the lightweight version and the three-fold pillows) and so have been using them for nearly three years. I can endorse all the recommendations in the other reviews regarding performance. However, I found that when it came to cleaning the duvet I encountered a problem. As it needs to be washed as wool, and line-dried, I checked with my local cleaners that they were able to do this. Although they said they could, the duvet returned having shrunk in width and length, and with the odd " felty" patch. We still use it - it's warm and comfortable, albeit a little shorter and narrower, but I'm not going to entrust the lightweight duvet with the cleaners, so am wondering how I am going to launder this and the shrunken duvet in the future. Given that they are superking size, I don't really feel that washing by hand is an option, as I don't think that I could remove enough water to dry them and keep them in shape. I have washed the pillows several times in my domestic washing machine, and line-dried them, and they have come up beautifully. Has anyone else experienced the same problem and does anyone have any suggestions? I am giving 4 stars, only because of the difficulty in laundering.

Such a lovely duvet!
I don't normally post reviews but as I relied on the reviews of others to make my decision to purchase, it seemed only fair to do the same.
I deliberated over buying this for some time due to the cost and the unknown feeling of a wool duvet. Having had an 'all seasons' feather and down duvet I was unsure of how the wool would feel in terms of weight and warmth. I needn't of worried, the warmth factor right now in our old, cold house, is just perfect although I may decide to add the lighter version to it in a month or so. The weight / bulk is much lighter than I expected but still feels that you have something substantial covering you, a bit hard to describe really. I also bought the mattress topper and the standard pillow which are just fab!

I bought the Devon mattress topper first then felt a duvet would finally sort out my poor sleeping so splashed out on this too. I'm thrilled with it. It's a good fit and doesn't move about on the bed at all (I sleep on a single bed and normally find that both single and double duvets slip around and I was forever hoisting them off the floor in the night, which was annoying and also constantly broke my sleep). It's really hard to explain why it's so good but it's partly about the 'quality' of the temperature, it just seems to regulate my body temperature in a way no other type of duvet has done before, so I don't keep waking up boiling hot or sweaty or cold. But it has a real 'cosy' feel about it too. I was slightly perturbed when I first opened it as it did 'crackle' as other reviewers commented, and it reminded me a bit of the noise a tent makes in the wind! But once on the bed, it doesn't move around because of its weight (though I would stress that it's not 'heavy' in an uncomfortable way at all), so it didn't make a noise at all. I bought the medium weight, and sense it will be more than warm enough for the winter for me, but I think it will be okay in the summer too because of the way it seems to regulate temperature. I normally use a hollowfill type duvet, but often got sweaty, this couldn't be more different. I really love it. My only complaint is that I've just realised this company do an organic version and I would have paid extra for that if John Lewis had stocked it, so I'm a bit annoyed with myself for that. Can't recommend highly enough. And it's so great to know it's British made and sheep are never reared indoors etc so no worries animal welfare wise which is incredibly important to me.

I bought this for my daughter , naturally fire retardant, dust mite resistant...those are the boring bits, luxurious, great at heat regulation, not hot or cold. the smell is wonderful too, slight lanolin smell..natural and lovely.

You must try this duvet, it's amazing!
Up until now I have always had goose down quilts, the lighter the better (weight per square meter) so this quilt was always going to be a big change.
The first thing you notice is that the quilt is heavier than a down one, but not a vast amount. It drapes and breathes well. I have always been a hot person so I was a little worried this might be a bit to warm, even in the winter, but it is so comfortable, I really look forward to going to bed!
My next purchase will be a pair of wool pillows!
