Rated 5 out of 5 by BeccaS1 Better than any other duvet I've had
We bought a king size Devon Duvet in Medium weight: I was looking for something that suited both my husband and me, as we have different nighttime temperatures. Rather irritatingly I haven't been able to properly test this aspect yet as due to the warm weather we've had in the last month we've both overheated a bit! That said, I'm thrilled with this wool duvet: it's much quieter than a feather one, and less inclined to roll away from the edge of the duvet cover. In fact that's one of the things I like best - it has 'sharp' square edges and corners and stays in place, inside the duvet cover, much better than any other filling.
I haven't found it too heavy - I like the way it drapes - and I like the combination of thinner duvet with a bit of weight (some feather duvets are like sleeping under balloons!).
I didn't find the smell a problem - we aired the duvet first and then slept with the lavender bag under a pillow. The odour was faint and dissipated within a week.
I also have the mattress topper - highly recommended -and will buy the lightweight duvet next.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Stephbaguette Excellent quality but a litle heavy.
This Devon Duvet is wonderful quality and it is a real investment. The medium weight is warm enough for the winter if you have a little heating on at night and we only changed it when the weather got very hot. It is also made in the UK in an ethical way. I was so pleased when we bought it.
Sadly a year on , I have had to get back to a feather Duvet,as I suffer with a chronic shoulder injury and it is quite a heavy duvet ,so it puts too much pressure on the joint in the long term ,as I move a lot in my sleep.
Please John lewis, can you stock some storage bags big enough so we store the duvet away in the summer months. I can't find any large enough anywhere. The Devon Duvet cie doesn't make any either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Kathleen99 I'm very happy with mine
I bought this duvet in store last month and would never now have anything else as I sleep much better.
When I unpacked it, there was a slight smell of wool but it was not unpleasant - for me it is logical as they say it 's natural as they don't use chemicals so I would expect a pure natural wool duvet to smell a bit of wool - it went away after a few days anyway which was actually quite a pity - We are exposed to so many chemicals these days and I personally don't want to have chemicals in my bed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by GatosRojos Looking forward to bed time!
A perfect duvet, keeps me warm without the overheating problem I was getting with my previous synthetic one. Excellent quality materials, the cotton casing is thick and luxurious. The filling is thick and evenly spread without being too heavy. This duvet contours round me when I get into bed so I'm instantly warm and cosy. It does smell faintly of sheep, which I personally like. To put it into context, the smell from our new bedroom (JL wool) carpet is over twice as smelly and more pungent than the very subtle sheepy smell from our new duvet. If you don't mind the smell of real wool, I suggest you will be fine with this duvet. Hope that helps.

I wanted to buy a better quality duvet from my previous purchases. I took my time and looked at all the comments regarding each and every type of duvet. I wish I hadn't of bothered. The smell of these duvets does not go away. I have aired them in fresh air all week and it still smells weird! Also my Superkingsize duvet cover is about 5" larger than the duvet. It is absolutely awful. I will be asking for a replacement from JL as I am not happy with these purchases.

I have used for 6 months over winter period after using dual goose down duvets.
I love the smell of wool so did not mind that there was a definite wool smell which actually is still faintly there even after 6 months use.
It is definitely heavier than my goose down duvets and I have now changed back as I prefer the feather lightness for summer.
And the wool one was too hot! I do not have heating in my bedroom and from March have open window and I was still too hot so not sure I believe the claims for temperature regulation.
I will probably go back to the wool one from November to March when it gets colder.

Just received this wool duvet yesterday. I have done a lot of research before purchasing the Devon Duvet and John Lewis has provided good and responsive customer support through my online order.
First of all - the positives of the duvet:
1. The cotton casing is beautiful and soft. It feels of good quality
2. The spread of the wool is nice.
3. It is a decent weight, not too heavy
4. The quality feels good
This is from an initial glance - I still have not used it.
Now the seeming negatives - the smell of the duvet is off putting to me. It smells like a part of the sheep segment at the local zoo. I have emailed John Lewis to enquire about this but could not imagine using this duvet if it retains this odour.
Sleeping is about comfort and warmth, not about holding your breath in the bed or feeling like there might be something wrong with the duvet you picked up.
I'm quite confused because the online reviews here at John Lewis have been overwhelmingly positive, but pending an answer from John Lewis, I would not have purchased this product if I knew it smelled and do not plan on using it at this rate.

A high quality quilt. All natural materials. Very warm for the Tog. A bit heavier than man-made alternatives but cosier.
