Dualit Burr Coffee Grinder

Product information

The specially designed Dualit burr coffee grinder produces consistently ground coffee, while preserving the maximum aroma of the bean. This works thanks to its conical shape, that spins more slowly than other types of coffee grinders to minimise clogging and produce less heat.

Key features:

  • A generous 250g hopper holds enough beans to grind up to 35 portions with no need to refill
  • The conical burr grinder is supported by a powerful motor and gear reduction, allowing for a slower, cooler grind
  • Portion control lets you grind only what you require each time, with the convenient dosing selector
  • Ten grind settings ensure all your needs are met, whether you want your coffee coarse (for percolators and cafetieres), medium (for filter machines) or fine (for espresso makers)
  • Removable burrs allow for completely effortless cleaning

Q & As

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 31 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Evenly ground coffee Very pleasing results with very evenly ground coffee, which released loads more flavour than I had with my old grinder. Perhaps a little fine on the coarsest setting? Otherwise, it being just a little bulky would be my only adverse comment/ 17 November 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 Irritating Works very well. Solid and well made. But! Turning it upside down to empty loose beans and grounds is messy and bad design. Refitting the hopper can be a nightmare but I learnt the trick from Dualit which is not in the instructions. 27 October 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 Uneven grind, and not fine enough for our espresso machine We were looking for a burr grinder to produce coffee for our espresso machine. We knew we needed a fine grind, we'd read the reviews about all the grinders on the John Lewis website, and although a few had expressed comments on the lack of fineness of the coffee with the Dualit grinder, their good name and the mid-range price won us over and we hoped it would be fine enough for our needs. Afterall, it had 10 grind settings, so we felt it must have one fine enough for our needs. Our previous grinder, a Krupps, also from John Lewis, had lasted four years, had produced reasonable coffee but eventually the motor went. We took delivery of our new Dualit grinder, expecting a fabulous grind and a delicious coffee. We set the grind to the 3rd grind setting. We were surprised to see the coffee it ground appeared to have larger bits of coffee in. The results were disappointing and there were also coffee grounds left at the bottom of the cup, meaning that some of the coffee was being ground too finely. We tried the lower settings but it still wasn't fine enough. The coffee was average at best, and the crema was poor (although inexplicably, the crema on the very first grind was good, but we could never reproduce it). The static was a real problem too, both inside the collecting bin and around the bottom of the burr mechanism. We tried it for three weeks and then decided it would have to go back. John Lewis were excellent as usual and were happy to give a refund after we explained our problems. We've now replaced it with a more expensive semi-professional burr grinder from a coffee supplier and we're getting a consistent grind with no static - it was well worth the extra money. Throughout this whole experience the thing we've learnt about grinders, is that they're the most important part of the coffee making process, so you really need to go for the best you can afford. 11 October 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great product A big thank you to John Lewis for replacing this item when the burr was jammed recently during cleaning. We had daily use of the original product for all varieties of coffee drinks such as cappuccino and expresso. The coarseness indicator is precise for each type of drink. John Lewis's no fuss returns policy has ensured our continuing loyalty to a great retailer - a company whose customer service is 'never knowingly surpassed' eslewhere. 11 September 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Noisy but efficient The grinder has a good variety of settings, the top bean container is large enough to take 227g of beans. It's fast but very noisy. The main body of the machine looks well made and durable but the top bean container and the container for the grounds look less robust. Time will tell. 09 September 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good product Massive improvement over bade grinders. This is a well engineered product with control over grind and how much to grind in one go. The hopper holds a full 250g bag of beans. Want good coffee? Get the grinder sorted first as this will get you fresh as opposed to stale coffee and gives you lots of variety not restricted by capsules. I can make 8 cups of great coffee with this and a caffetiere without waiting for each individual cup. Really pleased. 28 July 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent product I am very pleased with this coffee grinder. It is efficient, not too noisy, and produces very good espresso. Thoroughly recommended. 27 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Is this the perfect coffee grinder? Fast, quiet, very easy to use, no static, one touch operation. In an electric espresso machine, produces gorgeous crema, in fact so much better than any ready ground coffee. 08 May 2015
