Love, love, love my kettle!
Having had a Dualit Toaster for 16 yrs and counting, thought it was about time to have a matching kettle - looks fab, boils very quickly and so quiet!

Expensive, didn't last, not repairable.
This kettle looks amazing, (for a kettle), works well (while it's working) and is a Which? Best Buy. However, what none of the reviews (including Which?'s) mentions is that the elements of Dualit kettles are not replaceable. All models (Dome and Jug are in this identical) are sealed units. If the element goes wrong less than a year after you bought it, (not the world's most generous guarantee for a mere kettle costing £70) Dualit will replace it. If it's less than two and bought from John Lewis, then it's still covered under the JPL guarantee. If it goes wrong after that, then you throw the whole thing out. Ours blew up with a bang and impressive sparks, tripping all our electrical circuits then and every time it was switched on subsequently, after less than five years use. That makes it a pretty expensive disposable, and extraordinarily wasteful of the raw materials and energy that go into making it. Incidentally, John Lewis used to sell these with its own five year guarantee. It doesn't any more, which rather implies that it was finding five years too expensive to honour. One could, by comparison, buy a Best Buy Russell Hobbs every 12-18 months for about the same cost, and the last one of those I had lasted 20 years......

So far so good!
We decided it was worth splashing out a bit extra on a quality product, we have a Dualit toaster too, and we haven't been disappointed so far.
Feels solid, boils quickly and quietly, and the larger capacity is handy for our giant mugs!

Good looking and fast boiling
I bought this on the basis of the reviews on this site and am very happy with it. I like the Dualit brand and try to buy if possible. It looks stylish and matches the toaster that I have already. It boils quickly. I can't speak for durability as it is new.

I purchased this kettle as my previous one was retiring and I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. It has a really high end appearance and performs as well as it looks. It is much quieter than my old kettle which made a really loud noise so an improvement there. That said this is probably the most expensive kettle I bought therefore I had high expectations. It met my expectations and delivered the quality I required for a product of this value.

The Daddy of All Kettles
My previous Dualit Dome kettle lasted 20 years. I can't comment on the longevity of this kettle as it's new. It's the best of all worlds. I can boil a single cup of 250ml - the Sage I considered has a minimum of 500ml, the Cuisinart 385ml - whilst at the same time I can boil a whopping 2 litres. It boils very quickly - a single cup in 45 seconds and a litre in 2 mins 30 secs. It does this relatively silently. Sounds strange but drinks taste very good from this kettle. Only one thing to be wary of - the picture is slightly different to the actual kettle or the display model in JL Cheadle. The actual kettle has a shiny silver on/off button, not black plastic as shown in the picture and the display model in store. The handle has a plastic shiny silver strip on top unlike the plain black plastic handle shown in the picture and in store. The measuring window also measures in cups 2,4 and 6 - not in litres as illustrated. I would buy this kettle without hesitation. Also recently recommended by Which? magazine.

Good looking but...
I've had five of these kettles over twenty years; three of them replacements for the ones before (one was a replacement of a replacement). I love the kettles - they're big, good looking, nice to handle, pour well, the lid is easy to remove and replace. BUT, the elements are not very reliable and unlike the old ones, they're not now replaceable - the last one went after only 13 months. Thank goodness for JL's 2 year warranty. Will probably still continue to buy them...!
