East Coast Combination Wooden Highchair
Please be aware that this does not have a static strap or bar between the legs. It does have a harness, but in the time between putting our baby in the chair and getting the harness straps ready, he had slipped down through the chair. Fortunately two of us were present so we were able to catch him before he hit the floor, but it could have been a very nasty accident.
Other chairs in the East Coast range have a similar design and a couple of other people have commented on this design flaw, in a different model.
I have google image searched high chairs, and there are very few which do not have this elementary safety device.
John Lewis, I know you replied to another similar review to say that "this chair is not designed to have a static bar, and every family is different", but I would urge you to rethink this stance. The static bar could easily be implemented, without much cost, and it could be made to be removable by those who feel they do not need it. This is a potentially life-threatening design flaw.

I bought this highchair almost 5 years ago. Three children later it's still great quality. A very compact chair, no sticking out legs to trip over and fits right up to the table.

LOOKS JUST AS GOOD AS PICTURE
This is a lovely high chair and a modern take on the traditional ones of the past. I loved the idea that it can continue to be used when the child is older converting from the high chair option into their own little table and chair for eating meals and other activities like drawing, painting etc. Definately worth the money and the service from order to delivery was first class.

High chair was fairly straight forward to assemble although allen key supplied wasn't quite upto the job. It looks great and is easy to separate from table to use as a low chair. Five point harness is secure but I tend to leave waist straps attached to centre strap and slot my little boys legs through as if he is squirming too much he can't slip through. Very easy to clean and doesn't take up too much room.

This is a quality highchair which converts to a table and chair and will last until the child is about 3 years old. I found it cheaper at John Lewis then elsewhere and it was ordered and delivered in two days. it is exactly as pictured and i am very pleased with the product and the customer service.

Wooden highchair a decent buy
My 16 month old loves this chair. He asks to go into it as a highchair when he's hungry and he asks for it to be broken down into his own chair and table for play. The chair and table are a size that are going to last him for a few years. There are three drawbacks that you may want to consider:
(1) The straps are not a good fit for a tall toddler - we generally leave his arms out and just clasp the straps around his waist
(2) The closure is pretty viscous and kind of cheap - watch you don't trap fingers
(3) It needs a padded insert for smaller tots, which slides about on the seat when they squirm.
The product is better than average but not very good. I rate it just over 3.5 out of 5, so it gets four stars by default.
