This sign and dated 1960s Grosse necklace is crafted from a gold plated base metal and features a fine detail textured surface. The necklace is finished with a sheaf of wheat decoration.
Founded in 1907 by Mr Heinrich Henkel and Mr Florentin Grossé, the company was based in the goldsmithing town of Pforzheim, Germany. The brand adapted to the fashion jewellery trend of the 1930s, and became a leading global jewellery brand under the name "Grossé jewellery", working with Lanvin in Paris and Harrods in London. In 1937 the brand received a distinction for its costume jewellery at the Paris World Fair, recognising their advanced and creative implementation of new technologies.
Although the company's factory was demolished during World War 2, the family rebuilt using the funds from a single gold bar they had buried during the war. In 1955 they signed an exclusive agreement with Christian Dior Paris, to manufacture and distribute a jewellery collection under the name "Christian Dior Bijoux." The firm always maintained an independence in its designs produced under the name Henkel & Grosse, always focusing on excellence in quality and craftsmanship.
Please note, this is a limited production piece of vintage jewellery.
