Smooth edges, sculpted splayed legs and delicate slatted detail make this stylish bench an eye-catching addition to your home.

Made from solid oak, it's durable and robust. The criss-cross motif featured on the slatted back adds a unique geometric curve pattern that really shows off the expert design underpinning this piece.

The style draws on original 1950s design found in ercol’s archives and has been reinvented exclusively for John Lewis. This striking range is functional and demonstrates fantastic design.

Stylish design and good service A very stylish design BUT: A manufacturing fault meant that there was insufficient glue on the transverse tie holding the two sets of legs together - therefore one set collapsed, fortunately without injury to the person sitting on it at the time. Peter Jones replaced the item without question. I think I might tie the two sets of legs together with rope to prevent a reoccurrence! 03 December 2012

Lovely design Really nice, light piece of furniture - only gripe is that it is shipped with all four legs screwed to a frame, which means that when these screws are taken out you have holes in each of the legs. 21 May 2012

I know it to be useful and I believe it to be beautiful.. ...to paraphrase William Morris. Well made and well packaged. Although the original Ercol were, I think Elm (pre Dutch Elm disease), this one looks good in natural Oak. A great addition to the entrance hall. 19 October 2011

A classic I bought this to fill a gap in our recently renovated kitchen. I am a fan of mid-century design, owing a fair few pieces of original Ercol and Heals so this fits in well here. This is a beautiful piece and superbly made. It's surprisingly comfortable to sit on, although we use it more as a 'collection point'. The wood has character, grain that gives softening pattern. I love it. If I have a gripe it is the legs don't have pads on the bottoms, but that's a very minor fault. Well done John Lewis and Ercol, English furniture of this quality at this price is rare! It arrived in perfect condition, on time too! If you hankering after this item it will not disappoint! 10 June 2011
