Product information

Featuring the world’s fastest autofocus in a compact system camera, the X-E2 is a supremely versatile camera that builds on everything that made the X-E1 great. The 16-megapixel sensor captures more detail in every shot for superior enlargements. It also captures video at a smooth 60fps that renders beautifully on your Full HD TV.

Advanced sensor
The X-Trans CMOS II sensor eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter, which is used to inhibit moiré at the expense of resolution. The innovative array lets the sensor capture unfiltered light from the lens and produce extremely sharp pictures.

Vintage effects
Recreate vintage film shooting with Film Simulation modes. By selecting from one of 10 variations, you can choose your own image style. Velvia gives vivid colours, ASTIA shows faithful smooth tone reproduction, PROVIA offers a natural all-rounder, while the softer Pro Neg.Std and sharper Pro Neg.Hi are perfect for portraiture. Sepia film simulation is also possible while creative black & white photography can be enjoyed using three different filter effects.

Full HD
Shoot Full HD movies (1920 x 1080) at 60 fps or 30 fps, the same frame rate used for cinema films. You can take full advantage of the combination of X-E2's large sensor and bright XF / XC lenses to capture movies with a large and beautiful blurred bokeh background.

RAW friendly
The built-in RAW data converter lets you view results in the field without first transferring the data to a PC. This easy-to-use feature not only takes into account exposure compensation, white balance and other in-camera image quality settings, but also lets you apply Film Simulation modes in the converter mode.

You can easily transfer images wirelessly from the camera to your smartphone or tablet after installing the free Camera Application app. You can also use the camera's built-in Wi-Fi to save your photos to your PC.

Battery, charger, shoulder strap, body cap, strap clip, protective cover clip attach tool and viewer software.

Lenses & Cases
One of the biggest advantages of this camera is the sheer shooting flexibility on offer. You can use additional lenses to take wide-angle, telephoto, or close-up shots to suit just about any situation. The shorter the focal length (measured in mm), the wider the view will be – the longer the focal length, the more telescopic the picture. With a selection of interchangeable lenses at your disposal, the creative possibilities are endless. Click here to browse our selection.

Q & As

Rated 5 out of 5 by 1 reviewer.
Rated 5 out of 5 by A great camera for those serious about photography A great camera producing excellent resolution of detail, even at ISO as high as 6400, plus lovely image tones and colour balance. You should definitely buy it, if: 1) You want an interchangeable lens camera that delivers high resolution/detail, lovely image tones as your key concern. 2) You are put off the above by larger and heavier DSLRs - although the Fuji beats many DSLRs on image quality, resolution/image detail, as well as noise at high ISO. 3) You are comfortable with making adjustments to individual factors such as aperture, speed, ISO, focus, shadow depth, etc, etc. You can use in full auto, yes, but it is not a single dial-twist exercise. You will need to invest time in learning about all this. 4) You aren't after low-cost lenses and accessories - Fuji is high quality and its products are priced accordingly. 5) You like retro looks in your cameras or you value performance over modern look-and-feel. I bought this body plus the 18 mm wide-angle F2.0 and 35 mm F1.4 primes, swiftly followed by the 18-135 mm F3.5-5.6 telephoto, which John Lewis did not offer at the time. I came from a Canon G12 of four years' standing and did have a couple of days after I bought the XE2, wondering whether I had made an expensive mistake. But no. The camera requires an investment of time to get the best out of it. I have used all three lenses and got some lovely shots. I am eager to use it again and again....and will. I bought an EF20 flash, too, plus Sto-Fen diffuser for when ceiling bounce is not on. I always shoot RAW and do minimal in-camera processing to get JPEG, following this by cropping and any further adjustment in PhotoPlus 7 on a laptop. Have done some arty stuff already, too. I have fed back some usability issues to Fuji already, but you will never get a perfect camera in such respects. Image quality is brilliant and that is what really counts; I can get used to usability quirks and menus, after all. 13 January 2015
