Herman Miller Aeron Office Chair, Size B, Graphite

Product information

Occupying a place in the Museum of Modern Art's permanent collection, the Aeron is a chair that offers ergonomic comfort while adding a contemporary aesthetic into your home office environment.

Thanks to unique design features, this chair adapts naturally to your body type. PostureFit supports the way your pelvis tilts forward naturally, ensuring that your spine stays aligned to avoid back pain and allow you to sit for hours in complete comfort. Along with PostureFit, Aeron’s other ergonomic design features include a high, wide, contoured back that takes the pressure off your lower spine, and slightly sloping armrests to provide natural and comfortable support.

The dipped front edge of the seat takes the pressure off your thighs to promote good blood circulation and healthy posture, and thanks to the patented Kinemat tilt mechanism your neck, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles can pivot naturally. All of these design nuances enable the Aeron chair to move effortlessly with your body, allowing you to focus on the task in hand.

Rather than foam cushioning, Aeron is made using Pellicle, a unique suspension material. Pellicle conforms to your body and cradles it to keep pressure even, while cooling you at the same time to avoid the heat build-ups that cause aches and pains.

This chair is also an environmentally friendly option: almost two-thirds of each chair is made of recycled materials, and it is 94% recyclable.

Aeron comes in 3 sizes:
Size A is best suited to people of up to 5'2 in height.
Size B is best suited to people between 5'2 and 6'0 in height.
Size C is best suited to those over 6 feet tall.

Q & As

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 14 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Chair Bought this chair for my wife to help with her back problem. She thinks its great and should have had it a long time ago. Took a bit of persuading to spend this sort of money but well worth it. 04 October 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Just one thing missing im 6-2 and 100 kg and had my chair for the last 12 years & use it 12- 14 hours a day. the only thing missing is the no headrest otherwise i might have slept in it as well 28 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by The Rolls Royce of office chairs Simply the most comfortable office chair that I have ever used in 25 years of office working. I bought this for my home office, as I'd had a second-hand one in a job a few years ago. The price tag is hugely off-putting, but when one considers that the vast majority of the chair parts are under warranty for 5 years, and some up to 12 years, then it's something that should last for ages and I think that I can 'just about' justify the cost. After all, I spend most of my working life sitting, and having the best tool for any job is key to success. The chair is supremely comfortable. Netting rather than cushions gives a nicely tensioned seat and back that won't end up squashed after a couple of years of exposure to my lardy rear end, and the extremely wide array of positional settings mean that I am always positioned however I want, whether typing, using the mouse for prolonged periods, or even leaning back with my feet up to listen in to a presentation or partake in a conference call. There is separate lumbar support, and the seat is shaped to take any weight off the backs of the thighs. I couldn't be happier with the Aeron, and would highly recommend it. Though I'm not telling too many people how much I paid for an office chair :-) 13 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by For the fellow sceptics Like most, I never envisaged myself paying this sort of money for what is effectively an office chair. However. I suffer from lower back pain and have done so for some considerable time. I have tried a number of variants all considerably cheaper than this one. Some have helped most have not. Whilst I do not propose that this chair is a panacea for back pain, I can say however that there has been a significant improvement in the degree of pain I suffer when required to spend prolonged periods of time in it. Remarkably my osteopath has noticed a change in my posture which she partly attributes to sitting in this chair. It is an astonishing amount of money to pay for a chair. In my humble opinion it is worth every penny. 06 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Extremely comfortable Bought one of these from John Lewis about a year ago. Mine has a UK flag log on the backrest, but that variation is not listed at the time of writing. I tried it out in the store before I ordered, and made sure I was ordering the correct size. Im heavy, at 16st, and 6 feet tall, the chair copes with this with ease. It has proved to be extremely comfortable, even with many hours continuous use. There are seven adjustment controls (including the 2 armrests), which are easy to use, and reliably keep their settings. All the surfaces still look as good as new, no scratches or discolouring. Its reliable, and made to last. Expensive, but worth every penny for health and comfort, and looks great too. 25 March 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Very uncomfortable I have never written a review on the John Lewis website before as I have always been and still am very happy with the service this retailer offers. The issue is with the Herman Miller chair that I can honestly say is the most uncomfortable chair that I have ever had! I have owned this chair since August 2013 and have tried to persevere however it is now abandoned in the corner of the office. The seating area is extremely hard and by the end of the day I have pins and needles in my legs. The chair does not tilt forward enough for typing position and hence I end of leaning forward on the chair which therefore creates further back pain. The only way I am able to use this chair is by sitting on a cushion and having a blanket rolled up behind my lower back. Not great for a chair of this price. If you are looking for a comfortable chair then my advice is to look elsewhere as this chair certainly does not suit everybody. 27 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by very good product Have a very poor spinal condition so purchased this ergonomic chair. Very nice but believe the price was quite excessive compared to other places 17 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best desk chair! Bought a Herman Miller Aeron chair over ten years ago, it's never let me down and is the most comfortable desk chair I've ever sat in. 08 October 2013
