Herman Miller Setu Task Chair, Alpine

Product information

With a number of awards, including ‘Best Sustainable Design Solution’, the Setu chair provides comfort for any situation. The Kinematic Spine bends and flexes as you do, while the elastomeric fabric conforms to your contours to keep you comfortable and supported.

Rather than having adjustment levers, Setu enjoys a buoyant design that allows it to move and conform to your body simply by responding to your weight as you sit.

The minimalist outline is thanks to meticulous design: during creation Setu was shaped and reshaped to streamline the shape and ensure less material is used. From the tip of Setu's polypropylene Kinematic Spine down to the durable alloy base, this chair is finished without using toxic coatings.

Q & As

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 1 out of 5 by Laminate floor damaged by wheels The wheels on this chair do not turn when you are not sitting in it, which is really annoying. When I took receipt of the delivery, I had no idea that the chair couldn't just be wheeled along the floor, and I ended up with a nice surface scratch all along my hallway floor as I dragged it into the study (it's too heavy to carry). It also means that you can't push the chair under the desk once you have got up from it. 05 February 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect ergo handsome home office chair Really comfortable, even after 8 hours. I'm 5 months pregnant and haven't felt the sciatic pain all day. Also fits well my rugby playing man. Looks delicate, doesn't over power the room, is light to lift. Very simple clean lines make it a handsome chair. Wish I'd found and bought this ages ago. Very expensive but like a good bed I think it is a good investment. John Lewis delivered within a few days for free. And I know if there are problems they'll deal with them, which at this price is the reassurance I need. 22 July 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Worth the wait! We have been making do at home for years with an ugly hand-me-down-from-the-office chair and it was love at first sight when we saw the above on display at JL. Agree with the two previous comments. We too have a small study and most products would positively dwarf the space. This is very comfortable indeed, and I hope it improves my posture too in time! Goes beautifully with our (different brand) new shelves, desk etc which is white, with matt silver coloured metal handles and legs. 12 October 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very stylish Pricey, but very comfortable and stylish. Just right for a small office or space where you don't want a big chair to overpower the room. 07 September 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 by uncomfortable This is the most uncomfortable desk chair I have ever sat in. I persisted with it for an afternoon, and ended up with back ach to my mid back. If you sit back in the chair, you are forced to sit leaning forward, which is most unfortfortable,, resulting in having to perch on the front of the seat, to get comfortable. Very disappointing for such an expensive chair. 11 August 2011
Rated 5 out of 5 by No complaints! Comfortable, stylish and elegant. An instant hit in the study. 20 June 2011
