Hotpoint HUG61X Ultima Gas Cooker, Stainless Steel

Product information

The stainless steel Hotpoint Ultima HUG61X is a 60cm wide gas cooker with 2 gas ovens and gas hob.

The 4-burner hob has individual enamel pan supports and automatic ignition with a flame supervision (failure) device for extra peace of mind. The toughened glass lid also features a safety cut out should it be lowered while one of the hob burners is still ignited.

The main gas oven offers different temperature zones. These zones allow a number of different dishes to be cooked at the same time. The centre shelf position maintains the selected temperature, while the self positions above are a gas mark higher and the shelf positions below are a gas mark lower.

The top compartment is a gas oven and gas grill, stay clean oven liners being found in both ovens, as well as removable inner door glass for easy cleaning. And if your crock pot is sitting unused in the kitchen cupboard, put it to work with the HUG61X’s slow cook economy setting.

The cooker is finished in stainless steel, with satin silver controls and handles.

All gas appliances must be installed by a GasSafe registered engineer. Please note that connection hoses are not supplied with gas cookers for this reason.

Q & As

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 29 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not as good as I hoped Forced to purchase all gas oven due to new legislation ie couldn't have a dual fuel hardwired into my kitchen. Chose this. Hob is fine and so is smaller oven. Main oven is the problem. Very uneven heating so my cakes burn whilst raw in the middle. Absolutely no good for batch baking - I literally have to move things around every 6 minutes to stop scorching which is a pain Everything takes longer and nothing crisps up - so pizza and bread crusts are soggy. In summary, it's ok but if you are a baker, think again. :( I miss my Smeg electric oven LOTS. 10 April 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Poor product I bought this oven just under a year ago. The quality is terrible; hob/pan supports are flimsy; heat distribution is erratic; the overall structure doesn't feel too solid. Stuck with it due to cost, but now the thermostat isn't working (the flame is on constant low regardless of gas mark) so we are returning it and replacing with another make/model. Don't buy this product. 01 April 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Third engineer visit as oven temperature eratic Bought this cooker and within a day of delivery had a call from Hotpoint stating that the appliance was not safe to use and had a recall notice due to possible gas leaks. Engineer arrived and replaced some parts. We noticed that the oven took at least 20 minutes to heat up and was unable to control the temperature. It was either too hot burning food or not hot enough if you turned the dial down a fraction. We had a thermometer which confirmed that the oven was not heating, or retaining heat correctly. As such, yet another engineer call, who duly arrived and replaced oven thermostat. Did that work, no way! Now waiting for yet another Hotpoint appointment for the same problem. John Lewis have refused to replace the cooker until one more engineer visit has taken place, just on the off chance it can be repaired! I notice that the last reviewer has the same problems and coincidentally the cooker has now reduced more than £80.00 since I purchased it?? 26 March 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by very poor product, does not fulfill it's promise I bought this cooker in Sept and despite persevering with it really dislike it as follows 1) In the first week scratch marks begin to show, and needs cleaning every use. 2) the smaller hobs don't allow me to simmer, too high to cook rice, I have to use a diffuser. 3) the amount of hot air coming out from the grill when using it is unacceptable. it blows up into your face if standing near it. 4) The grill is difficult to light, you cant see the flame unless you virtually kneel down on the floor to check it 5) the worst feature is the oven. It takes 25mins to get it up to gas mark 6 but sometimes seems too hot at higher temps. 6) I am seriously considering changing it. 23 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent! I really like this cooker. it is easy to use, easy to clean and looks great in my kitchen. There are loads of safety features compared to my last cooker. Having the double oven is so useful too. I'm so glad I bought this cooker; it's fantastic. I chose to have it fitted at the same time as the delivery and I'd recommend that service. 23 November 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great cooker I am really pleased with this cooker. Good looking, easy to clean. 22 May 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by much needed really please with this cooker looks good delivery great 13 March 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Frustrating ignition! Other reviews were very helpful and the large main oven with such accurate temperature control possibly makes the negatives bareable. I should have paid more attention to other reviews and possibly spent more on a better cooker. So frustrating that there's not a simmer burner because the smaller rings just don't go low enough for a simmer. The burner racks are very flimsy and more around with heavier pans - you can't mash potatoes on top of them. The glass lid won't sit back vertical with the wall which spoils the look when it's open. The grill really isn't hot enough to brown chops etc but great with toast. The stainless steel is very difficult to keep clean - dont buy this if you like your cooker immaculate because every tiny spot shows! Most frustrating of all and probably not unique to this cooker is the ignition delay on the burners - it takes a full 20 seconds of sparking the ignition before the flame will stay in - how many hours of my life will I spend lighting burners and who on earth decided this was an important safety device - certainly not somebody who cooks?! 09 March 2013
