excellent I bought this machine in october 2012 and i can say it is brilliant. It washes really well and the countdown digital clock is really useful, plus it beeps when the washing is done. People complain about the long washing times. I always use the eco setting, when you press this, it normally cuts the time down by about half and still washes really well. You can fit lots in the drum, a full set of super king sized bedding including bottom sheet. Really happy with this product 10 May 2013

Brilliant Product We have just purchased this product and are really pleased with it. Firslty, I must say that the John Lewis staff were really professional and called half an hour before they arrived. They installed this machine very quickly. The machine itself is brilliant - especially the cupboard dry setting, which automatically detects when the clothes are dry. Even though the drying cycle may say 6 plus hours, we have never had a wash and dry cycle that has gone for more than 4 hours when using the cupboard dry setting. 01 April 2013

Made a mistake Thought we would buy British but we bought the wrong machine. Should have gone for an Indesit washer/dryer. Far more flexible and cheaper too. Programmes on Hotpoint far too long and can't be varied. Had two serious problems: 1. Wool Jerseys being washed on 30 minute 30C cycle. While I was out of room machine switched to a 3 hour 60C wash. By the time I managed to stop machine and open it, wool jersey was ruined. 2. Previously machine would not complete 3 hour 60C wash. It went on and on. When door opened eventually, clothes were still wet. So had to finish on a spin cycle. I would really like to get rid of this machine. Engineer coming next week. If he doesn't find anything wrong (despite our experience), nothing will be done. Don't touch this machine. It's the worst one we have ever had. 30 March 2013

Second Machine Being Returned Purchased first machine in February however it needed to be returned and replaced due to excessive burning rubber smell and over heating of the casing. The second machine however has the exact same flaw and will need to be returned and full refund received. I note other reviews also mention this serious flaw!! 06 March 2013

Returning this Disappointing, quick wash takes 30 mins but is only for a half load, with max spin speed only 800 so clothes comes out dripping unless you do an extra spin only at the end for another 16 minutes. Didn't try cotton cycle at 40 degrees as the display said it would take over 3 hours! Stand alone drying options for the two settings that actually say clothes will be dry, again display said over 3 hours and no option to reduce time. Time can only be reduced on the lowest setting which the instructions say leaves clothes damp. Tried the highest setting and set the kitchen timer for an hour to switch machine off - clothes hot and wet. Sorry this is being returned and going back to model we had before. 10 February 2013

Fantastic machine! This machine was purchased to replace separate built in washing machine and tumble drier. I had some slight concerns that the Hotpoint WDPG9640P Washer Dryer wouldn't fit in this very snug slot but it did with absolute ease! The machine was extremely easy to plum in ourselves with very clear installation and operating instructions. The drum is enormous compared to the measly amount you get with built in appliances. You can fit in a complete set of kingsize bedding, including the bottom sheet with room to spare. There are a good selection of washing and drying programs. As previously commented on the standard programs can be a little long. I wouldn't put this down as a negative as with some reference to the instruction manual these can be adjusted to suite your needs. I don't know why previous reviews have marked this down as a bad point. The dryer works brilliantly, small items can be dried with the drying program adjusted to 30mins. In both modes the machine is extremely quiet and most importantly it washes very well. All in all a great machine for a very good price (my review is based on 2 weeks of use). 28 January 2013

Excellent value washer/dryer We saw this product in store and liked the look of it. We liked the price even more so after looking around for a better price found that JLP was the best value. It is very quiet for most of the cycle. The controls are easy to use and the display is very effective. Overall we are very pleased with our purchase. 09 January 2013
