I really liked the look of these lights until I tried to assemble them. The instructions tell you to assemble the light layer by layer on the ceiling light fitting. This proves impossible because you have to add 3 spacers to the screws for each layer of the light which just fall off whilst trying to balance on a ladder. Having read some reviews I realised the light could be assembled first and then put up. So I tried this quite successfully. However, once up the light hung at an awkward angle. The fitting was too big and it rocked. I spent all day trying to solve this with washers and reducers until I realised all this was in vain because the inside of the light had been welded unevenly so even with a perfect fit it will hang lopsided. I bought 4 of these in different colours for the lounge and hallway of my first new home. I am really disappointed in John Lewis because your products are advertised as good quality. I have recently spent thousands of pounds in John Lewis for my new home and feel very disappointed. I have wasted a day and still have no lights. This is not what I expect and I will be returning them!

Although this is a very stylish retro lampshade & quite easy to assemble on the table and all the pieces were there when if came to hanging from electric fitting you needed very tiny fingers to get inside to attach and then the bulb wasn't easy to fit either for the same reason Have only just hung them, I have 2 but pleased with the overall look.

These look very stylish, although they are a bit expensive.

I bought three of these Harvey light fittings for my new kitchen and whilst they look delightful I realise I should have heeded the warnings from other reviewers. Unfortunately, none of the lights had screw fittings that worked properly to join each piece together and consequently were impossible to assemble. They were either too long or had no thread to screw into. I have returned all three and purchased alternatives. It seems somewhat disingenuous to list them under the 'easy-to-fit' category!

I ordered 2 of these shades online. They looked really nice but when I started to assemble them I noticed that the biggest shade was not fully painted - on both!
Doesn't anyone check these before they go in the box?
Not buying any replacements, too hacked off. Will buy a couple more 'croft' shades instead

I appreciate that this is a very attractive light but the object is to illuminate the room, and this does not. We have the correct bulb inserted but this is just not enough. We have this in our bedroom to complement the colour scheme but will have to change it. We use lamps on our side tables, but for those occasions when you want good light (for example looking in the wardrobe) it is necessary to have a bright ceiling light. I'm afraid this one will be moved to a spare bedroom. Sadly we had it boxed up while our bedroom was being decorated (we've recently moved house) and only installed it past the refund date.

We ordered 4 of these shades. They look good but are tricky to assemble being made up of separate shades held apart on a long screw by spacers. The spacers are hopeless. Three of the four shades have problems - on one the screw pin was bent preventing threading; on another the spacer was poorly cut and required trimming on a third one shade tier was biffed making attachment impossible. Not what I would expect from something bearing the John Lewis name - usually a sign of quality. A good design but very poor manufacturing quality. Disappointed.

The second of these I received was just right. The first one wasn't made very well, where the two inner parts attach to the main shade the wasn't concentric to the bulb so the two inner parts were very wonky. Usual excellent service from John Lewis and it was changed within a day.
