Bought this sofa thinking the price was good. But it is poor quality. It is very uncomfortable. Very upset too as the colour(teal) has transferred onto the newly painted walls leaving an ugly grey/blue mark.
As I trust the quality of goods from John Lewis I bought it but I am very disappointed.

I bought the earlier version of this product in slate (87064681) in January 2013. It arrived well packaged and was simple to assemble - just screw in metal base. The sofa bed is stylish, comfortable and useful for family and guests to sleepover. When used as a bed it is best to put a thick throw on top to lay on for comfort. The fabric is easy to wipe clean and the frame has withstood children's bouncing and high spirits. However, in terms of value for money, i think a lower price would be more appropriate for a basic sofa bed.

I received delivery of this sofa bed last night. The delivery men were extremely helpful and placed the sofa in the room required.
It was easy to assemble with the alun key which is included.
The colour which I thought would be a dark Charcoal, is infact more of a slate grey. Although Charcoal was selected at the time of check out, the outer packaging describes the sofa as 'grey!'
As for comfort, this isn't a sofa that you'd spend the evening on watching your favourite movie. It's great for occasional use.
The sofa bed hasn't been slept on yet but as the seat is rock solid, comfort may well be lacking. As other reviewers have mentioned, I may well need to use a mattress topper to ensure a more comfortable nights sleep.
In all, a useful and space friendly sofa bed. By the time the children and cat's have finished with it, it will have softened to perfection!!

I wanted a sofa bed that would be easy to unfold and not too heavy - and would look streamlined in my flat. It looks stylish, in a retro-50's way. It is affordable, it has to be said, but think it would be better utilized as an office reception-area sofa. It is self-assembly, so make sure you can get two people to do it.
Although I lay down on the sofa to test it in the store and thought it rather firm, it was what I wanted as a sofa. Unfortunately, as a bed, it is supremely hard and muscle-achingly non-supportive. I have to put a foam mattress on it if I use it as a guest-bed, thus defeating the point of it.. (in fact if I have guests, I use the sofa, and let them have my bed, as I know they will wake up semi-stuck !), so I am very diasapointed in the poor quality of the foam and base, and that it was not what I expected from John Lewis (the reason I went to John Lewis is that I expected decent quality).
I only wish I had returned it immediately and chosen a different one.

Recived the sofa bed, i was shocked by the poor quality, the build quality is shocking. I would dread subjecting anyone to try and sleep on it, it is rock solid.
I expect much better from John Lewis. On the positive the return procedure is first class.

I had a hard time finding a double sofabed for my small spare bedroom. Most others I looked at were giant boxy things that would engulf the room, or exceeded my budget.
It was very easy to assemble except that the underside compartment's zipper was on the inside, making it awkward to use. However you only have to open and close it once, to retrieve the parts for assembly.
The mattress is very firm so it's great for bad backs.
Definitely recommended for its value, compact size, comfort, and sleek styling.

Another piece of furniture that looks good but is extremely poorly built. Agree with other comments – uncomfortable and so poorly built the wood supporting the leg split. This time we are taking it back for a re-fund..
Don’t judge a book by its cover we have also previous bought the more expensive JL sofas (2x) assuming a high build quality and have subsequently been disappointed. Check all furnioture frame construction before you buy - often plywood and a bit of glue.. Shocking really.

Not sure about the other review here but I found this to be the most uncomfortable piece of furniture I've ever bought. The foam is VERY thin so you feel the board underneath. The metal legs are also quite weak and after a few weeks started to buckle and had to be straightened. Complete and utter garbage.
