House by John Lewis Pedal Bin, 30L
I ordered it. It was delivered. A week later the mechanism failed. It is cheap but very poor value. John Lewis should desist from using their own house brand name to products such as this which are of totally inferior quality.

I was a bit concerned about this due to other reviews saying it was flimsy and dented, but my bin arrived in perfect condition. It is really smart looking in the oyster colour (a very pale cream I would say), and feels pretty sturdy. It’s really compact, due to being square, and takes up much less room than my old round bin which was also 30 litres. The peddle action is good, and there is a little handle on the back to make carrying it easier, as well as an internal liner that you can lift out. Very happy with my purchase!

The pedal mechanism snapped after 6 weeks of below-average usage. I chose the House by John Lewis for cost reasons (much cheaper than all the other rectangular bins on offer) and now I wish I'd spent more money because this is really a flimsy poor quality product. I'm back to square one and having to buy a new one. Only positive feedback I have is that the design and style are attractive.

Stylish bin but dents easily
I have been looking for a recycling bin to match John Lewis's own round cream 30L bin which is a very good bin so was delighted to find this as was significantly less expensive as other brands I had looked at and colour matched my other bin. When I picked it up at the collection point the outside cardboard box was damaged so I asked for it be opened so I could check the bin. It seemed ok but I had failed to notice a very small dent on the lid so have to echo others comments regarding the fragility of the metal to dent. However, in view of the price fairly satisfied as dent is small so not worth drive of returning to shop.

It's a nice product, but having got it home we realised that the unsightly flap over of the lining plastic bag outside the bin was still unavoidable.. Therefore became aware of bins whose design allows it to be hidde we have gone elsewhere to purchase one of those. Also becoming disenchanted with pedal bins generally as the mechanism is always a bit jelly-like so prefer soft touch.

Its a bin- with a pedal action, that works...
A bit thin (in terms of thickness of material), but opens and closes as you would expect.
Delivery experience was less than I'd hoped from JL though...

We Like The Bin ..
We were after a bin that held a substancial amount, was black and rectangular. This one fitted the bill perfectly and we have been happy with it. Sadly the inner bin cracked and this has to be exchanged but we are happy with it.
If one drawback, the metal of the bin is thin so could get easily dented so must treat with care.

Value for money but not for rough handling
The bin was loose in the box when I was given it at the collection point. Perhaps I should have had it checked before leaving the store, but I didn't. When I opened it at home , I found a small dent in the lid. As I couldn't be bothered to traipse back into town, and the dent isn't significant or affects the operation of the lid, I haven' complained. As a bin, I use it for items for recycling and it serves its purpose admirably. The stainless steel is rather thin, so ,if you want a more substantial bin, you will have to pay more.
