Q & As

House by John Lewis Pedal Bin, 30L 3.1 5 18 18
Good bin - frustrating sticker! Well, the bin is good. The colour is nice (red) and there were no dents in ours! The sticker on the front however - what a pain! Spent 20 minutes trying to clean it off with a scourer and some cleaner and there is still sticky residue there that is visible. Real pain and very frustrating! Please please change this! 14 April 2014
disappointing Even though it is in your basic range I am disappointed with the quality. It is tinny and has a small dent in the side. I have always associated John Lewis with good quality but will think twice before buying from you on line again. I wish I had taken more notice of some of the previous reviews. 04 March 2014
Love it. Why didn't I get one sooner??? We ordered on line and collected the next day. What a great service. They text you when your purchase is ready to collect. Thank you John Lewis. 18 February 2014
Neat bin, reasonable price When our old plastic bin broke we wanted something sturdy but many bins were ridiculously expensive. This one is reasonably priced, looks good and does the job. 04 February 2014
Pedal does not work The size of the bin is great for the kitchen; it fits into a tight space for our needs. It holds almost a week's worth of rubbish. However the pedal keeps coming unhooked from the lid mechanism. I've tipped the bin over several times to reattach, but it does not last long. I'd return it, but I do not want to take a rubbish bin on the Underground. 20 January 2014
Total rubbish I ordered it. It was delivered. A week later the mechanism failed. It is cheap but very poor value. John Lewis should desist from using their own house brand name to products such as this which are of totally inferior quality. 06 August 2013
Just right! I was a bit concerned about this due to other reviews saying it was flimsy and dented, but my bin arrived in perfect condition. It is really smart looking in the oyster colour (a very pale cream I would say), and feels pretty sturdy. It’s really compact, due to being square, and takes up much less room than my old round bin which was also 30 litres. The peddle action is good, and there is a little handle on the back to make carrying it easier, as well as an internal liner that you can lift out. Very happy with my purchase! 26 April 2013
Disappointing The pedal mechanism snapped after 6 weeks of below-average usage. I chose the House by John Lewis for cost reasons (much cheaper than all the other rectangular bins on offer) and now I wish I'd spent more money because this is really a flimsy poor quality product. I'm back to square one and having to buy a new one. Only positive feedback I have is that the design and style are attractive. 18 March 2013
