House by John Lewis Stride 3 Door Sideboard
Quality furniture and practical.
I have assembled several pieces of House furniture: media centre, coffee table, console table and lamp table. As long as you look carefully at the instructions and the labels on the fixtures it all goes well. Very pleasing solid construction and well designed. Good wood veneers. No complaints at all.

Lovely when built but it will test your patience!
This item arrived really well packed and with very thorough instructions. Its says it takes 1 hour to build with 2 people but it took us 4 hours on account of some of the pieces not being correctly labelled. I got halfway through building it before realising it was wrong so had to unbuild to build it again.
The doors are rather fiddly, adjusting the latches to do this wasn't easy at all. As a result one of my doors is very sticky and there isn't anything I can do to change that.
Its lovely now it is built. Its very stylish and practical but I would have rather paid more to have it delivered built as building the piece really tested my patience and has spoilt my enjoyment of the piece.
M&S do a similar piece of furniture which arrives built and is only £75 more so had I known how much work would be involved building it, I would have probably gone for that.

Stride 3 door Sideboard
Excellent piece of furniture. Very well made with no 'Glue or Tacks" Highly recommended.
Must admit the idea of flat-pack put me off, but as stated by others "Take your time when building and it's perfect - wish I had room for two!

Not what it seems
From the description I assumed that this was solid wood with a veneer but it is in fact chipboard. It also has over a hundred different parts and fittings and would take hours to assemble. Not the one hour they claim. Unimpressed and not good value.

Nice looking sideboard
Yes it took a little longer to put together than than specified but thats probably because we took it slowly. I'm very pleased with the finished product. It looks and feels more expensive than it was and as a previous reviewer said the grain across the front of the whole unit is a good touch

Fantastic, beautiful, good quality
I loved the style of this furniture and decided to take the risk that this was 'impossible to put together'. I bought two for my alcoves.
Yes, the first one took a bit longer than the suggested hour but the product is beautifully made and, if you follow the instructions carefully, it works like a dream. The doors were a bit tricky but then I realised I had the middle door in the wrong place! Having worked it out, the second one was easy!
Others have written that this is an expensive product for flat-packed furniture but I wouldn't have been able to afford a product like this if I hadn't built it myself. It is so solid and expensive looking and affordable. This is not the cheap flat-packed furniture where the wood spilts and the screws are too short, it's much better quality than that.
Would definitely recommend but just be careful and patient - you only have to build it once and then you have a beautiful piece of furniture.
John Lewis delivered on time and drivers were superb!

Difficult to assmble and wrong parts included
It arrived completely flat packed, and it took me 3 hours to assemble, after which I found that a shelf and a drawrer did not fit. The wrong sized parts had been included. I returned it, and had a refund. Very annoying.

Impossible to put together
When this arrived and it was a flat pack I was surprised, considering the price. I should have read the description more closely - my fault. However, when I did put it together it was not possible because one of the draw fronts and internal shelves were the wrong size. It had to be returned and I chose not to have a replacement because I am not spending another three hours of my life building furniture which should be ready built at the price.
