House by John Lewis Tablecloths
Colour scheme gives false impression!
We recently bought the 'Mocha' coloured table cloth in this range and so far so good -yet to wash & attempt to iron- but this is more about how the colours appear on this site. Both the Mocha and Putty ones look different in the flesh as to how they look on this site!
In my opinion both look a bit grey and dull when the Mocha one actually looks a kind of stoney brown colour and the Putty one is more of a beige in the flesh.

I bought this tablecloth and matching napkins to be used on our dining table for both Christmas Day and the New Years Eve dinner party we were hosting. The looked very white and crisp enough on arrival, but after washing they were impossible to iron! I spent over an hour on the table cloth alone and it looked awful. Unfortunately, as it only arrived a few days before Christmas I had to put up with it as there was no time to go shopping for another. After Chistmas I washed them again in preparation for NYE, and even though I tried ironing them damp from the washing machine, again it took forever to achieve a poor result. I returned to store and received a full refund. Just not the quality that I would expect from John Lewis.

After several washes the 180 X 140 table cloth has now shrunk to 165 X 135. Fortunately the cloth still fits the table, but for how long!. We have no problems ironing with a steam generator iron. However, I notice one stain still persists despite using a bio powder and a stain remover. On the positive side the colour (red) still looks good and there is a good range of sizes available. Despite my negative comments, we will purchase the largest size available, for use when our table is extended as for the size, colour and price etc there is no other supplier available.

Can't believe John Lewis sell such rubbish!!
ONE STAR IS TOO GENEROUS! There is nothing positive to say, really wish I'd taken the advice of the other reviewers but needed the cloths urgently so gave them a go - bad move! On opening them the smell was terrible, a musty mouldy smell. There were black marks on the cloths. Other reviewers had mentioned that they shrink so I decided to iron them without washing, this didn't work so I washed them and tried to iron them whilst damp still impossible to iron. Washing had shrunk them, the larger one barely covered the table end to end. Washing after use was just as disappointing as the stains would not come out. Steptoe & Son would have been proud of my Boxing Day table I was simply ashamed - these cloths are only fit for the bin.

Also bought for long table. Fitted first time but not after washed at recommended temperature.

Nightmare to iron and stains do not come out
Before first use, I washed the table cloth and matching napkins and tried to iron. On the hottest setting and with additional water, they still looked like I had not bothered. After first proper use, washed again, but any marks before being put into the washing machine were still there when they came out. I am going to have to throw them away as they are a terrible product which is a shame as it is difficult to get cream table cloths.

I am so disappointed with this tablecloth. I bought the 280cm one to fit my long table. I washed it after one use (following washing instructions) and it shrank so much that it no longer fits my table and is useless for me.

Shrinks badly and a nightmare to iron
John Lewis is my 'go to' for tablecloths and I was so pleased to find this in Teal, that I bought 2!!
Only wish I had laundered the first before using the second. Both had huge shrinkage issues and unless line dried or left slightly damp, they are just horrid to iron. Stains show up really badly too, and are the very devil to shift.
